3DArtistExtreme Posted September 29, 2018 Posted September 29, 2018 Guys, what`s wrong with DCS 2.5? I`ve just upgraded from 1070 FTW Hybrid to RTX 2080 Ti in a hope to get more fps in VR. But this game barely holds 39 fps and jumps all the time from 32-39, with continuous microstuters and lag... This is rediculous.. Atm, this game is complitely unplayable in VR (even with the highest end grapics card). -=3DArtistExtreme=- 3D Scanning / Modeling / UV mapping / Lighting / Shading / Texturing 3D Portfolio http://www.oleg-kovalev.com
Precog Posted September 29, 2018 Posted September 29, 2018 Probably CPU bound in some situations. Vulkan should help in these cases. What are your settings? Check out my 'real world' video series [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

rrohde Posted September 29, 2018 Posted September 29, 2018 Agreed. Not a DCS issue. I get generally smooth performance in DCS 2.5 w/ my trusty old 1080Ti (see signature for hardware reference). 3DArtistExtreme Posted September 29, 2018 Author Posted September 29, 2018 I`ve got Intel 6800k overclocked at 3.88 Ghz, but DCS never utilizes it at it`s fullest. I`ve got 64 GB ram. Other games run super smooth. -=3DArtistExtreme=- 3D Scanning / Modeling / UV mapping / Lighting / Shading / Texturing 3D Portfolio http://www.oleg-kovalev.com
FragBum Posted September 29, 2018 Posted September 29, 2018 You might need to dial some of the settings down until your frame rates improve constant 45FPS is fine. Your CPU might also bottle neck performance, also DCS doesn't multithread very well currently I have 5930 i& 6 core @ 4.7Ghz 64GB RAM and 1080Ti. PD+1.2 I currently run MSAA @ 4 now that's about the only difference to these settings and I get a constant 45FPS with occasional drop frame. Demon_ Posted October 1, 2018 Posted October 1, 2018 (edited) -New video card, reinstall new NVIDIA drivers, probably a drivers issue? -You need a bigger overclock to feed the bigger video card. Edited October 1, 2018 by Demon_ Attache ta tuque avec d'la broche.
Goa Posted October 1, 2018 Posted October 1, 2018 there is another thread in this section (too lazy yo search it) where a guy with a 6800k had to disable inter turbo boost 3.0 and change cpu affinity yo use all cores.. that's the problem, the 6800k is absolutely no cpu bottleneck. Pac-Man Posted October 1, 2018 Posted October 1, 2018 Also, the 2080ti is not the monster that everyone was expecting it to be. This is why Nvidia did NOT do any game play performance posts at the announcement. Historically, we see a 20-30% increase in performance with each new series of cards. With the introduction of the 20 series. We saw 5-8% increase on MOST titles and even a loss with others. Be informed before you purchase.... new doesn't always mean better. Schmidtfire Posted October 1, 2018 Posted October 1, 2018 Agreed. Not a DCS issue. I get generally smooth performance in DCS 2.5 w/ my trusty old 1080Ti (see signature for hardware reference). Im sorry but that statement is wrong. It is very much a DCS issue. There is a Shaders mod for better VR performance: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=215373 Example results: Stock shaders in Hornet, 65fps With the mod, 98fps: Stock shaders in Harrier, 61fps With the mod, 94fps Basically, some altered Shaders and Lua files and the results are through the roof! Eagle Dynamic staff has knowledge of this "fix", but are yet to implement their own reliable solution into DCS core. So... this issue can be solved and a lot of the tech behind it is already figured out. Now it is about implementation. I am not saying that the Shaders mod is the ultimate way to go for the end game, but for now it is the only viable solution for a good VR experience. Why not have VR friendly shaders as an option when running VR? 4.5Ghz i7, 64GB ram, SSD, 11GB 1080Ti STRIX and I can barely hold 45fps on Persian Gulf missions without the mod. Multiplayer is a no-go in VR. I know that VR is extremely demanding, but the current, low, VR performance is more software related than you think.
