Hi, I saw that some objects do not appear in game, for example some street lamps that are present in the template "VP-Lighting tower" "VP-Gotb 100m" etc... . What can it depend on?

Yes, unfortunately on latest DCS the lighting effects of the VPC Mod caused crashes so I had to disable the lighting. Didn't remove the light towers from the Templates because I still hope that @voc (the Mod's author) will be able to fix it in the future 🙏

Is anybody else having issues with the static template for Kobuleti? I can load the template in mission editor but if I click on an object or load the mission to fly it I get an error and DCS crashes.

Unfortunately, DCS has renamed the files fake_omni_lights.fx and fake_spot_lights.fx, which on DCS 2.7 are named  fake_omni_lights2.fx and fake_spot_lights2.fx

 

The ideal solution would be to re-create the 50 or so objects of the Mod that include lighting to make use of the renamed files, but that is a lot of work and the Mod's author is not currently able to dedicate so much time to this; so an alternative solution is to copy those two files and give them the old names .. the end result looks like this:

Fortunately, this fix does not break the integrity check in any way, but if you ever do a repair of DCS, the repair tool will delete them, so this fix would have to be re-done .. I will edit a small Mod in OvGME format and provide a link, so that it is easier to apply.

A nice side-effect of this fix is that it restores the lighting abilities of some objects, that was lost when DCS updated to 2.5.6

That fixed it!! Thank you.  But I dont get the lights at night time, not sure why.

You probably have the version of the VPC Mod where I disabled its lightning to make it not crash on DCS 2.5.6 ... wait a few hours and I will upload a working version of the Mod.

The fix to get the lights to work was to put the lights in as a GROUND UNIT - FORTIFICATION, not as a static object.  I read that fix on your other thread. Many thanks!

My static templates are built that way, the units that have lighting are placed as fortifications rather than statics.

Gday

This looks like great work but unfortunately If I try to start a  mission with the templets loaded DCS crashes while loading & wants to send crash reports. I would say the mod used (VPC-Airfield Equipment 0.9.4 beta) is broken

I’d say that you are probably using an obsolete version of the Mod. This is the current one:

The updated Caucasus in Blu and Red would be nice

Hi, not sure what you mean by "old version" ... my Templates have only one version, as I have not updated them since their creation. Maybe you mean the VPC Mod?

Hi,

Since the latest update the templates do not work anymore.

I don't know if it is a VPC error, or one of the objects or if ED has changed something.

nullDo you think it is possible to fix this? I use these templates a lot in the Mission Editor to create better looking missions.

I've also attached the mission.

Its a VPC bug, you need to apply the fix mentioned here:

🙂 amazing indeed, as these templates are by now almost 5 years old ... I'm sure they could be improved a lot by making use of Massun's assets that are now built into DCS, but I stopped using Caucasus a long while ago, so I'd rather invest the effort on newer Maps, like Kola  🙂

Question: is it possible to remove a template from a mission? Maybe I'm not looking at the right place but in the mission editor I can find only add or edit for a template. How would I correct for instance when I added a red template instead of a blue one?

Unfortunately, ED has not provided any means to delete units of a static template from a mission. Up to now, I used the unit list and ordered them by Group Name, as all my templates use a naming prefix this at least allows the template units to be grouped together, which makes for an easier deletion by just successive presses of the delete key.

However, while taking the above screenshot I detected that my older Templates no longer load correctly on the latest DCS 2.9.6, the Editor strips their names, leaving them looking like this:

so, I'm not sure if you will be able to delete the template units on the way I just described. I've just reported it as a bug, but don't know when or if it will be fixed by ED:

Thank you for your elaborate explanation. Let's wait and see if ED looks into this and has a fix for it. Again, thanks for looking into this.

At the moment I'm using the Caucasus templates as I wanted to have missions that are there just to fly around and practice on throttle and trim control for different planes.

And then copy those to other maps.

Your templates make these maps much more 'alive'.

I've used your templates also in the various missions from emolina https://forum.dcs.world/topic/145655-the-interesting-missions-generator/ and found it a real shame that he has stopped working on this project.

Anyways, I'm looking forward to your templates (no pressure... 🙂 ).
