This would be very handy indeed. With a gamma in which the outside doesn't look washed out the cockpit is too dark, if the cockpit is good the outside is way too bright, and with any gamma for day time flights, night missions are almost pitch black for me even on the carrier. In real life our eyes obviously adjust constantly to this, and since DCS's engine doesn't do it for us, gamma keybinds would be awesome. Please ED!

A proper simulation of aircraft helmets would fix that without the need to adjust gamma every few minutes.

What we need instead is working visors - and aviator sunglasses for WW2 modules and certain helicopters.

Or even a simulation of the iris. Perhaps a little algorithm that strives to keep the overal amount if light from the picture more or less constant. Auto-adjusting Gamma between a couple (player set?) Boundaries would be a fairly simple fix methinks.

I got this thought from doing a night flight the other day. As I was out over the desert, I cranked Gamma to the max (3.5) and it looked right. As I flew back to Nellis, I took it down to 3, then 2.5 and that looked natural too, with the increase in external lighting.

So yeah I would greatly appreciate either turning a dial in my pit or having an autogamma simulated iris setting.

That’s pretty much impossible given the different hardware people have…

ED already has such an algorithm to set cockpit lighting and MFD brightness depending on the time of day your aircraft spawns at. Have you ever known that to be even remotely accurate?

At the industry standard gamma 2.2 deserts are already far too bright for me, and the colours washed out. A visor fixes that.

I see in your signature that you’re using a Reverb G2, and I know from experience there’s a massive difference between a G2 and what I use (Aero Varjo) in terms of brightness and colours.
Remember that gamma doesn’t just affect brightness: it shifts the entire colour spectrum.

Having Keybinds to adjust Gamma would actually be a frickin' great relieve.
The gamma issue is one of those annoyances I came to accept as just given (since simulating the iris would probably be too much to ask - and honestly I never thought about that).

But having proper Keybind options (digital and analog axis please), is the second best thing.

@BIGNEWY @NineLine Could you guys please forward this? I imaginge adding keybind options for something that already is adjustable on the fly (by virtue of opening the ESC-menue) is a doable thing (priorities are another topic of course, I'm aware). TY

Hi,

Currently we do not plan on adding key binds for gamma. I can mention it to the team but can not promise anything.

Cool, thank you!
