Flight model is already done. They probably will be making adjustments in the future but right now they don't seem to be working on it.

No,Wags mentioned it's still WIP,the devs worked on FM are doing something else. After that they will work on flight model again.

Correct, FM is still very much WIP. Our FM engineer is currently focused on the HARM and tuning the JHMCS.

Actually, five engineers just working on cockpit systems (compared to two we had for the A-10C). There are many more staff members working on cockpit art, external art sounds, flight control system, A/G radar and FLIR rendering tech, effects, sounds, mission content, documentation, weapon art, skins, etc. There are MANY more than four people working on the Hornet.

So there will be big changes in FM? I think FM is pretty accurate now. I like it. Dont wanna changes. :)

It was said there were some issues with it. Also they promised a "no pylons" FM iirc.

Any sneakpeeks at the new FLIR rendering? ;)

I'm also curious what part of the FM needs work?

I'm not sure if the FM guy is also the FCS guy, but there are still some issue with the FCS logic in certain situations, like the well known issue in landing/takeoff mode (whole big thread by Curly) and an issue with pulling G's at airspeeds higher than ~350 knots where the FCS reverses your input momentarily before giving you back control, and I'm sure there are a couple more issues. But for the FM itself, as opposed to the FCS, I'm not sure what needs work there.

what's wrong with the FM?

idunno.. but i reported this... strong oscillations when light:

about time 1:45 specifically

"whoa - what's that"

and again at 2:30 - i just took my hands off and it just... kept going : (

i still get left-right yawing when i command high-alpha at low a/c weight

Yep, that was strange. At first I thought you were referring to slight lateral nose wobble when you snap rolled right without unloading from a high g pull. The level flight wobble looked strange... to me at least.

Posted (edited)

the wobble actually started in the loaded roll - but i was looking away and didn't notice it until i looked ahead again and i was straight and level ---- then i just took my hands off the stick and let it sort itself out

btw.. c w lemoine just posted a youtube with some feedback about the sim vs real-deal....

- particularly the last half

good stuff

but yeah they've got a little buffing up to do......

Yeah when light the yaw damping seems a bit overzealous, tends to overcorrect and start up a yaw oscillation.

seems like there's feedback - the dampening isn't.... "dampening" : )
