nscode Posted June 26, 2007 Posted June 26, 2007 Mi-26 has several world records in "Powerlifting":) Yes, but they will all go away when F-22 is declassified ;) :D 1 Never forget that World War III was not Cold for most of us.
159th_Fusion Posted June 26, 2007 Posted June 26, 2007 I doubt you'll see an F22 lifting a Chinook somehow....... Flashing through the sky on a hampster driven, monkey navigated four-poster-bed.
Joe Kurr Posted June 26, 2007 Posted June 26, 2007 Yes, but they will all go away when F-22 is declassified ;) :D Didn't know the F-22 was a helo ;) Dutch Flanker Display Team | LLTM 2010 Tiger Spirit Award

EvilBivol-1 Posted June 26, 2007 Posted June 26, 2007 Chinook? Pfft... http://www.airliners.net/open.file/1210527/L Size is relative: http://www.airliners.net/open.file/1016009/L Or this: http://www.csun.edu/~evb58362/1143449154.jpg Little bit of trivia. In that last photo, the Mi-26 is transporting a Tu-134 airframe (mock up?) to serve as a monument at the Chisinau airport (Moldova). I was there earlier this year for my vacation, visiting family. Here it is installed: http://www.airliners.net/open.file/1048126/L P.S. Just for kicks: http://www.csun.edu/~evb58362/2279307_812666329.jpg - EB [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Nothing is easy. RvETito Posted June 27, 2007 Posted June 27, 2007 Mi-26 is a unique machine. I've seen it few times, right next to it our Ka-32 looks like a baby toy. It's really cool to watch it's main rotor spinning- 8 blades rotating at 120 RPM, you can easily count them. The main rotor seems so slow that makes you wonder how come this thing lifts 20 tons of load. "See, to me that's a stupid instrument. It tells what your angle of attack is. If you don't know you shouldn't be flying." - Chuck Yeager, from the back seat of F-15D at age 89. =RvE=

Force_Feedback Posted June 27, 2007 Posted June 27, 2007 I know Soviet Mi-26 pilots always flew it with a 5 tonne load (a command truck of some old type) in its cargo hold, otherwise it would be unable to land. Creedence Clearwater Revival:worthy:
