blklobo Posted December 19, 2018 Posted December 19, 2018 I am DCS user who started flight sim since early LOMAC. now days, DCS is very good combat simulator for us. this is really first time multiple aircraft simulator platform, so often I feel hard to choose aircraft for flying. but DCS have problem. it is unstable aircraft modules example long term beta version and very slowly development. I dont care about module release to early access in late. I was wait hornet last 2 years since mentioned at first expected release date. but the thing what make me unhappy is very slow development and no futher any news since early access. look at the Hawk. Hawk will reject in 2.5.4. Hawk was have many problem past few years. developer was mentioned they will fix and release finally in this year. but Hawk develop has been fail and rejected. I dont care my money. the problem is no further trust to 3rd party developer. MiG-21bis too. MiG-21bis abandoned from develop. no any news from developer since few month ago. it is very similar with Hawk. MiG-21bis will rejected too? MiG-21bis in Beta from 5 year(?) ago. it was successful module when initiated, but now days no maintenance is make to unstable of MiG-21bis. if this problem exist after Hawk rejected, I cant trust any early access from 3rd Partys. I will never purchase until final release. ED, you need to acknowledge make DCS to stable. this game have some problem about reliable. Please make game to stable and fixing bugs(example Recorded Track System) and please make final release long term early access modules. 나의 SM-G930S 의 Tapatalk에서 보냄
David OC Posted December 19, 2018 Posted December 19, 2018 ED would like that too. Just a lot more work still to do on this new engine going forward. Vulkan api etc which is and will be need to expand DCS for dynamic campaigns etc. i7-7700K OC @ 5Ghz | ASUS IX Hero MB | ASUS GTX 1080 Ti STRIX | 32GB Corsair 3000Mhz | Corsair H100i V2 Radiator | Samsung 960 EVO M.2 NVMe 500G SSD | Samsung 850 EVO 500G SSD | Corsair HX850i Platinum 850W | Oculus Rift | ASUS PG278Q 27-inch, 2560 x 1440, G-SYNC, 144Hz, 1ms | VKB Gunfighter Pro Chuck's DCS Tutorial Library Download PDF Tutorial guides to help get up to speed with aircraft quickly and also great for taking a good look at the aircraft available for DCS before purchasing. Dun_Aenghus Posted December 19, 2018 Posted December 19, 2018 I've been flying since SSI's Flanker in 1995 and ED are attempting to address the issue by introducing Vulkan and making other improvements. Unfortunately bad things like the Hawk can happen, though I find the state of the MIG-21 quite ok. It's a niche genre and a lot of US flightsim companies folded in the late-90s. Personally I'm happy it was just a module that was lost, could have been a lot worse. What we have is truly exceptional and they'll make it better. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Tailhook Posted December 19, 2018 Posted December 19, 2018 but the thing what make me unhappy is very slow development and no futher any news since early access. Developing high fidelity modules like the F/A-18C and A-10C takes years. but Hawk develop has been fail and rejected. I dont care my money. the problem is no further trust to 3rd party developer... MiG-21bis too. MiG-21bis abandoned from develop... if this problem exist after Hawk rejected, I cant trust any early access from 3rd Partys. I will never purchase until final release. Then don't buy 3rd party. None of the failed development of 3rd party's is related to Eagle Dynamics and the development of it's own modules. Please make game to stable and fixing bugs(example Recorded Track System) and please make final release long term early access modules. DCS has crashed on me less than the number of fingers on my hand in the last 5 years. Any crashing is caused by either a buggy mod that you installed or an unstable OS with weird background processes. The only self-induced crashing I get is when I accidentally click inside the window while joining multiplayer lobbies. Though, DCS is not bad at all, on my side, only time i'm having issues now with replays now is: 1- When using a Carrier (specialy the Hornet and Stennis), the second i touch it, either by taking off from it or land on it, it desynchs replays after with some weird altitude lost, like the replay afterward gets my altitude reading wrong, besides that, no issue, even when forwarding the replay, so far most of them didn'T gave me errors. 2- trying to replay a track recorded with an older version after some patches updates. REad quite a bit about ti and so much theories it gets confusing, including some what having some hardware overclocked stuff can alter replays, like GPU OCed or CPU Oced.
The Falcon Posted January 29, 2019 Posted January 29, 2019 And what about the performance? i mean fly at low settings to have 30 fps in vr with a goddamed machine, is not a fun fly! We need a revolutionary optimization at the base of the sim, we have to create and sign a petition.
joca133 Posted January 29, 2019 Posted January 29, 2019 Only 5 crashes over the past 5 yrs? Who built your pc, the pope? I wish I could say the same. Just last night it crashed when I clicked on a button assignment at the menu! It’s unbelievably unstable for me and the main reason I dont play much. Of course the reasons vary and the whole pc windoes gaming thing is complex, so I am not putting this on ED alone. But man, smooth frames with decent graphics and no worries about crashing is all I dream.
FragBum Posted January 29, 2019 Posted January 29, 2019 Whilst there seems to be some tweaks going under the bonnet we need to balance the fact that we are using open alpha and the software is very complex meaning we are going to have issues from time to time. I know it can be a PIA at times but I seem to remember these "painful" times from before and as before DCS will gather all the info from AO and OB users and apply it to DCS. Then we we once again gain the benefits of DCS World. DCS World is a synonym for patience. :music_whistling: Control is an illusion which usually shatters at the least expected moment. Svsmokey Posted January 29, 2019 Posted January 29, 2019 (edited) I have had DCS for two years now . I play almost exclusively SP in Stable due to less-than-optimum internet . I've experienced One crash in all that time , ran repair and fixed . I attribute the stability I experience to two factors : 1: NO MODS ! I run Voiceattack and Vaicom Pro . That's it . I do use SRS for online play , which is rare . 2: MINIMAL updates . I have Windows and Java updates disabled , and never update graphics drivers unless compelled to-lately by an Oculus installation . I am firmly in the if-it-ain't broke-don't-fix-it camp . 3: MY 'puter is dedicated to DCS and DCS support ONLY . Among other things this mitigates the security concerns otherwise valid from disabling Windows and Java updates . I have a tablet and a laptop for all other internet uses , including forums . Maybe I'm just lucky , and all this has nothing to do with my stable experience . But I'm gonna stick with this program regardless-at least untill it blows up in my face ! SharpeXB Posted January 29, 2019 Posted January 29, 2019 As a rule now I never purchase EA products. Not just DCS but any game. I don’t have the time or desire to be a Beta tester. It’s nothing negative but I feel devs need an incentive to finish their product. I think EA generates too much excitement and then the money runs out to finish the product. So it’s not doing any favor purchasing the module too early. Modules languish in an excessively long EA period. And honestly the modern full sim aircraft are so complex to learn it isn’t worth my time to do so until they are complete. There is plenty of good content in DCS that is in a completed release state for me to use. i9-14900KS | ASUS ROG MAXIMUS Z790 HERO | 64GB DDR5 5600MHz | iCUE H150i Liquid CPU Cooler | ASUS TUF GeForce RTX 4090 OC | Windows 11 Home | 2TB Samsung 980 PRO NVMe | Corsair RM1000x | LG 48GQ900-B 4K OLED Monitor | CH Fighterstick | Ch Pro Throttle | CH Pro Pedals | TrackIR 5
draconus Posted January 29, 2019 Posted January 29, 2019 Sorry, guys, but I have to inform you that this game is very stable. It has its bugs and many things are not completed but constant crashing is not really normal here (especially stable version). Yes, some users experience this as we can see in the forum. It's almost always user fault due to many things like hardware failures, settings, drivers, overall system condition, missing files, custom added files/configs and uncompatible mods, additional apps running in background, you name it... So if you have a problem, make a thread about it. People here will help you find the cure. Whining about instability doesn't resolve the issue as there will be next updates and next versions that people enjoy but you will still have the same causes for errors and crashes. The Falcon Posted January 31, 2019 Posted January 31, 2019 (edited) Ha Ha Ha Interesting choice of bait. Good luck with the petition LOL!! The idea was to unite in making the developers feel that in addition to the modules we want to play with a decent frame rate in vr in order to know immediately on the forum that we haven't good performance currently with the vr.
