Anatoli-Kagari9 Posted December 21, 2018 Posted December 21, 2018 This morning I pushed the latest Open Beta, also Normandy, and went testing the new 25-N in my still old - 2012 - rig... The same i5 2500 @ 3,3GHz, and the GTX 960 4GB GPU... Well, stability and total absence of stutters was a very good surprise, I'd say my DCS Christmas Gift ! Looking GRRREAT! Thanks a LOT ED ! Flight Simulation is the Virtual Materialization of a Dream...
Reflected Posted December 21, 2018 Posted December 21, 2018 Agreed, in some situations I have +10-15 FPS in VR! Very impressive! Facebook Instagram YouTube Discord

msalama Posted December 21, 2018 Posted December 21, 2018 (edited) True. All v2.5x versions have run pretty well on this aging PC of mine, but yesterday's patch still takes the cake - the performance is nothing short of phenomenal. And what's more, it now seems that ED has finally managed to kill the memory leak as well! Just flew this mission I've got with some 120 ground units plus an odd chopper etcetera in an L-39ZA and the memory usage stays well put now, whereas it most likely would've crashed the computer pretty soon into the mission before due to running out of VRAM (4GB installed). Well done ED - you've found the course, now stay on it! AND THIS IS AN ORDER, MIND YOU :D Edited December 21, 2018 by msalama The DCS Mi-8MTV2. The best aviational BBW experience you could ever dream of.

A2597 Posted December 23, 2018 Posted December 23, 2018 Sounds like this is the open beta branch, so steam beta, not stable.

BertoneX Posted December 24, 2018 Posted December 24, 2018 Please forgive my ignorance....I'm new here. What does "pushed the latest Open Beta" mean? Pushed = Installed? So by not installing the beta I'm simply running the last version, but it will auto update to the current beta soon.....and then a new beta will come up? If I decide to install the beta and have problems can I go back to the last regular version? I'm assuming having to reinstall all the modules I've bought?

If I decide to install the beta and have problems can I go back to the last regular version? I'm assuming having to reinstall all the modules I've bought? exactly. Beta gets all of the new updates first. And we in userland get to help shake 'em down... :) Once a change is considered good to go, it'll then become part of the stable/production release, (and will be part of that patch/change for the stable version). As you're aware, stable will always lag a bit regarding updates.
