Where should I put my practice range?

I'd like to build a mission in the Caucuses that gives me a practice range of various ground targets.

 

What I'd like from you folks, since I'm not very familiar with the map, is suggestions on locations.

 

Some parameters are I'd like it to be close enough that I can place a carrier so I can utilize my F18 but also near enough a base that I can use my A10C and any other future aircraft I purchase.

 

I'm not asking how to do this (that'd be a question for the mission builder forum) but asking you folks where a good place to put this would be.

You need a piece of flat terrain, I wanted a good contrast place for mine, so the targets are easier to see from altitude .. I finally settled on the coast of the Black Sea, near Anapa.

 

I made a Static Template for it, if you want you can try it out to see the exact location:

The unused airstrip near Kobuleti seems to be a preferable place, many default training missions are located there.

it's easy to spot, near the water, and nearby airports are fully equipped with navaids (dual NDB, TACAN, ILS, only RSBN missing for L-39)

You just need the 476th Mod, which is easy to install as it goes into /saved games/your user/dcs/mods/tech

 

I use this range in combination with the range scoring script of Ciribob, that is easy to use and provides you with feedback about your bombing runs, like this:

There's an old abandoned airfield between Batumi and Kobuleti, a few miles inland from the coast, just East of the city of Poti.

It's a very common place you'll see targets set up in missions and videos.

There's a great spot on the Caucasus. Check out this area in the attached mission file on the last waypoint for the ground unit. It's a nice hill that drops off into a deep valley. You can set your range on top of the hill.
