DutchCoolHand Posted March 2, 2019 Posted March 2, 2019 So I have been flying in VR for about a week and it is great. But I feel it is fuzzy out of focus. But I wear glasses that have the progressive lenses, so close for reading, medium and far away. I was wondering if my glasses cause the fuzzy look as I might be looking through the middle section of the lens. So do you wear your glasses? I already have small area of scratches on the VR lenses, I don’t think it creates the fuzzy look. I had my son who does not need glasses yet. He sees it as not completely clear too. If I don’t wear my glasses it is a little hard to see things. Do you wear your glasses? I have seen that there are prescription lenses for the VR. have_quick Posted March 2, 2019 Posted March 2, 2019 Progressive lenses might be a problem, typically you want to use your distance prescription. Highly recommend prescription lenses for the VR, much clearer for me than wearing glasses. Also try adjusting how the headset sits on your head, the sweet spot was much smaller than I expected when I started using vr, took awhile to realize I didn't have it adjusted properly
speed-of-heat Posted March 2, 2019 Posted March 2, 2019 (edited) I went to one of the vr opticians and transferred my prescription for distance (I use progressive glasses as well) on to lenses that clips and fits in my o+ directly.. https://vroptician.com/ and https://widmovr.com/ as examples Edited March 2, 2019 by speed-of-heat SYSTEM SPECS: Hardware AMD 9800X3D, 64Gb RAM, 4090 FE, Virpil T50CM3 Throttle, WinWIng Orion 2 & F-16EX + MFG Crosswinds V2, Varjo Aero SOFTWARE: Microsoft Windows 11, VoiceAttack & VAICOM PRO YOUTUBE CHANNEL: @speed-of-heat
speed-of-heat Posted March 2, 2019 Posted March 2, 2019 Oh and depending on your prescription you might want to get thicker padding, I find that when dogfighting the top of the lens can rub slightly on the Ridge just above the eye SYSTEM SPECS: Hardware AMD 9800X3D, 64Gb RAM, 4090 FE, Virpil T50CM3 Throttle, WinWIng Orion 2 & F-16EX + MFG Crosswinds V2, Varjo Aero SOFTWARE: Microsoft Windows 11, VoiceAttack & VAICOM PRO YOUTUBE CHANNEL: @speed-of-heat
Manilva Posted March 2, 2019 Posted March 2, 2019 For me the solution has been the prescription lenses no progressives. Now I can read the copckit, and radio messages much clearer... Enviado desde mi iPhone utilizando Tapatalk
NeilWillis Posted March 2, 2019 Posted March 2, 2019 You can buy 3rd party lenses based on your prescription for distance. They work very well and mean you don't need to wear glasses when in VR. They do take regular cleaning to keep VR vision at its best of course.

hansangb Posted March 5, 2019 Posted March 5, 2019 I got the VR goggles because I have multiple HMDs. So I didn't want one that fit to a specific HMD. speed-of-heat Posted March 5, 2019 Posted March 5, 2019 the thing about glasses especially if you have gone the varifocal/progressive route the likely cost almost as much as the HMD...and they are a tight fit even the O+ which has "loads of room" they actually create additional pressure on the nose and on the frame … you are better off going the lens/dedicated goggle route SYSTEM SPECS: Hardware AMD 9800X3D, 64Gb RAM, 4090 FE, Virpil T50CM3 Throttle, WinWIng Orion 2 & F-16EX + MFG Crosswinds V2, Varjo Aero SOFTWARE: Microsoft Windows 11, VoiceAttack & VAICOM PRO YOUTUBE CHANNEL: @speed-of-heat

Rossterman Posted March 5, 2019 Posted March 5, 2019 I use an over the counter correction of +2.0. I’m able to see things clearly far away but without glasses, my vision is blurry looking at things close up. Would purchasing these improve clarity in my situation or are they designed to work only for those that have blurry vision far away? speed-of-heat Posted March 5, 2019 Posted March 5, 2019 I honestly dont know, when I asked them which lens prescription I should use they said distance, so if you have no need for glasses for "driving" then my guess is they wont help you but I would ask one of the companies that make them SYSTEM SPECS: Hardware AMD 9800X3D, 64Gb RAM, 4090 FE, Virpil T50CM3 Throttle, WinWIng Orion 2 & F-16EX + MFG Crosswinds V2, Varjo Aero SOFTWARE: Microsoft Windows 11, VoiceAttack & VAICOM PRO YOUTUBE CHANNEL: @speed-of-heat
Harlikwin Posted March 5, 2019 Posted March 5, 2019 I have heard that the focus distance is long rather than short. But I don't wear glasses, so take it for what its worth. I’m able to see things clearly far away but without glasses, my vision is blurry looking at things close up. Would purchasing these improve clarity in my situation or are they designed to work only for those that have blurry vision far away? No it wouldn't. HMDs have fixed focal point which is far away. If you can see objects around 1.5-2 meters away from you clearly, you don't need to wear glasses when using VR HMD.
Johnr666 Posted May 28, 2019 Posted May 28, 2019 Rift S with standard glasses and frames A question for the Rift S owners who may have experimented wearing their glasses while using the Rift S. Does the Rift S allow the wearing of glasses with a standard frame without scratching the lenses and also causing discomfort during use? After I purchased my Rift 18 months ago I unsuccessfully attempted to wear my glasses with a standard frame when using my Rift. So I chose to use aftermarket lenses with a frame designed for the Rift. Hopefully the Rift S allows the user to wear their glasses without damaging the lenses and causing discomfort. Cheers
