Dino Might Posted March 4, 2019 Posted March 4, 2019 You will have "Iceman" AI at your disposal. It will not be fully fledged pilot but you can order him around. From what was stated, he will not be able to engage in a fight though, only in flying as ordered (how where...). Now think of this. If those orders can be scripted, then create MOOSE scripting to automatically give Iceman orders based on enemy activity, and now you have made your own autopilot.
cercata Posted March 4, 2019 Posted March 4, 2019 Give me a call, I’ll fly with you Brilliant !!!! :megalol::megalol::megalol:
Shahdoh Posted March 4, 2019 Posted March 4, 2019 I wonder if it would be possible to make it so you can save a track file of a mission you flew and jump in the rear instead of the front, so you are responding to the original jester commands? That would be good only for the start of an engagement. As you identify things and do your job, directing the pilot to a new course of action would be impossible without you taking over again.
tekrc Posted March 5, 2019 Posted March 5, 2019 Cheers for all the offers guys, they are much appreciated. I will keep an eye open for you all online. Shifts are 6 on 3 off. Earlies, lates, nights and days and a mixture of 8, 10 and 12 hr days. But the best part is, work can change them depending on the services needs up to 48hrs before hand. Makes arranging anything, or having a social life almost impossible. understandable. just shoot me a pm sometime if you want to schedule something. and if work comes up and cant do it then np can try again later.

I think is not easy as it look, this thing is gonna be a long and hard work if it's done a day, I'm more thinking about flying as Rio for a friend, it's very easy to found a free pilot, more than finding a free Rio I think ;) /

Flamin_Squirrel Posted March 5, 2019 Posted March 5, 2019 There's a DCS Discord channel up now; that might be a good place to look for people to fly with.
104th_Maverick Posted March 5, 2019 Posted March 5, 2019 Starting your aircraft in the air in SP and getting Iceman to fly around is a perfectly acceptable way of learning the back seat. (Its how I did it) Having Iceman taxi and takeoff isn't going to give you any extra 'learning' opportunities. Everything you need to excel in the backseat is available from an airstart in SP. Just create or get a mission with lots of enemy targets in it and have Iceman fly around while you identify and shoot at them :) Failing this .... get some friends :D [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] 104th Phoenix Wing Commander / Total Poser / Elitist / Hero / Chad www.104thPhoenix.com www.facebook.com/104thPhoenix My YouTube Channel
Max_Rogue Posted March 5, 2019 Posted March 5, 2019 I'm more than happy to fly prospective RIOs around, so they can learn their systems. Put up some Russian bears, with an escort or two, and keep practicing. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

Well you could always take off and land that thing yourself while you're at it and learn that at the same time. That are the only phases that you won't get training as a RIO then, but it's probably a very minor part that you have to do online with a friend.
