Hello

After seeing the mirros in the F14 then I like to suggest that the F18c have the mirros redone.

In the f14 you can in mirros see much or your plane and examle look if you have contrails via the mirror.

In the f18 you pretty much cannot use the mirrors for anything.

( i like to add i only play in vr )

So my humble suggestion is that the mirrors will be adjusted so that the top mirror show our pilot + the top of the plane and that we maybe can see the engine if it contrail or not.

And that the side mirrors are adjusted to give us a view of the wings.

All in all i hope the mirrors will give us a better imertion and tactical view of what is going on behind our seat since today i never use the mirrors since its more or less impossible to see anything usefull in them.

The f14 mirror in cocpit is excellent, hope we can get the same in F18c.

;-)

It would be nice to see anything but himself in the mirror, or have you ever seen yourself in the mirrors while driving a car? If I see myself that mirror isn‘t adjusted properly.

If I had a cool"F-14" helmet on, while driving, I would certainly adjust my mirrors so that I could constantly see myself.. [jeremyclaksonmode] mirrors are overrated anyway when driving at full powerrr [/jeremyclarksonmode]

This post is also meant as bump ;) as indeed current F18 mirrors are really strange. As if they provide sort of a fisheye view or something (at least in vr)

I actually allways assumed current mirrors acted as placeholdes until the real mirrors where implemented.

In all the real life videos of the F/-18C, the mirrors seem to show the pilot and wings.

Maybe ED can get with Heatblur to see how they did it...

This really belongs in the bug forum and not wishlist. The current mirrors are incorrect and do not show what is seen in the real aircraft.

whats the point of seeing your helmet and your wings though? at least with current mirror orientation you can notice incoming missile contrails or aircraft behind you sometimes.

Probably just because of where they put the camera. In reality the mirrors are set to look to the sides and rear u don't see yourself in them at all. Heatblurs current implementation is cool especially when one of my group did a skin for me with my Helmet in it. Totally useless for ops.

Helmet...no point, but I would think wings would be important to see control surfaces, weapons.

Good point on camera location, didn't think about that. So, you are saying the Hornet mirrors in DCS are realistic?

I know it doesn't make sense to have your own reflection in the top mirror, but would you not see any part of aircraft?

Yep I used to position the side ones so that I could see my wingmen when they were in close and the upper one to look back over the tail. Unfortunately I don't use them in DCS much as they kill the framerate in Multiplayer to much. Last time I had them on in F18 it was weirdly distorted so not worth having on. The Heatblur ones are good for photos but that's it.

exactly as topic starter say. after see F14 mirrors, i just wish F18 ones were like that : useful !

i can see plane and all needed on F14, while on F18 they just point a point in space that is not useful at all.
