ponch17 Posted April 13, 2019 Posted April 13, 2019 Dear all first question about JDAM when I select them inside stores pages the 10 min countdown start but is that normal if I change to HARM or Maverick when I come back on JDAM the countdown restart ??? second question in TOO mode when I approch the TGT there are 2 circle When I enter the first one ''IN RNG'' appear on the HUD .. but if I release my GBU at this time it didn t reacj the target and hit short !! I have to wait to be at 3/4 of the distance of the second circle So my question is what is the rules about these 2 circle and how to uses them ?? it's some small bug or I do something wrong ? Thanks
Manuel_108 Posted April 13, 2019 Posted April 13, 2019 No, the timer should not reset. I am confident that this is a bug and work in progress. Yes, the bomb accuracy at max range is bugged as well at the moment.
maxTRX Posted April 14, 2019 Posted April 14, 2019 Before getting engulfed in serious scientific and procedural ways to deploy JDAM... I just plucked in 4 waypoints in ME on top of targets. Fired up the jet, powered up the JDAMs. Put the jet on ATTH autopilot and... wpt>desig>pickle, wpt>desig>pickle, etc. All 4 bombs hit dead on, every time. I did follow the advice of some forum members here and set the map to metric units. The waypoints of course had to be corrected for tgt elevation. It's a lazy ass way to do it but if you know what your targets are before mission start... Clip: https://youtu.be/VlMiY28ScH4

Clip: https://youtu.be/VlMiY28ScH4 Hi, I had success with hitting tanks in NTTR using JDAM waypoints or coords or LGB lased by FAC. But when I switched the targets to structures like armed houses/barracks, they kept missing. Not sure why? Any ideas/tips? I'll set up some targets in Nevada tonight.
maxTRX Posted April 14, 2019 Posted April 14, 2019 (edited) I did set up 4 structures: a bunker, armed barracks and chem tanks. 3 out 4 times - 100% success. One time all 4 GBU-31's missed. I don't think the bombs were in "01 good" status and I was just crossing IRLAR (in-range circle) at the time of release. I was also just entering supersonic with slight nose up attitude. (why? I don't know lol) By the time we figure this all out... there will be an update.:smilewink: BTW, OP asked about the small circle - that's min. range Edited April 14, 2019 by Gripes323
Arink429 Posted April 14, 2019 Posted April 14, 2019 I put a target 15.000 ft. hi on a mountain peak and the max in-range circle resulted as wide as if the target were at sea level, resulting in a very, very short launch. So I supose the logic is not well computed for altitude. Manuel_108 Posted April 14, 2019 Posted April 14, 2019 BTW, OP asked about the small circle - that's min. range He asked why his bombs won‘t hit the target after entering the first (max range) circle, which should be the outer one.

Thanks The countdown will be reset because you cancel the selection of all JDAM variants. Canceling the box selection is equivalent to disconnecting the JDAM power supply. This is mentioned in the JDAM manual.

Need to be recalibrated? I always thought it was a BUG.
drPhibes Posted April 14, 2019 Posted April 14, 2019 God! But is it really the case? Choose other weapons. Will JDAM disconnect? Need to be recalibrated? I always thought it was a BUG. The JDAMS have no static memory. When power is disconnected (by unboxing the JDAM in the stores page), GPS ephemeris data (orbital data for the satellites in view), GPS crypto keys (necessary when using the P-code, so N/A for us DCSers), target data and transfer alignment (which aligns the JDAMs IMU to the one in the plane) is lost. When re-powering the JDAM, the transfer of GPS parameters and IMU alignment restarts.

When re-powering the JDAM, the transfer of GPS parameters and IMU alignment restarts. So shortly put: If you are on station for a bombing, you are dedicated for that task 10+n minutes before you are permitted to drop. If at any given time you are disturbed, you can't perform the drop in the time sensitive situation as you need that 10+n minutes. i7-8700k, 32GB 2666Mhz DDR4, 2x 2080S SLI 8GB, Oculus Rift S. i7-8700k, 16GB 2666Mhz DDR4, 1080Ti 11GB, 27" 4K, 65" HDR 4K.
drPhibes Posted April 15, 2019 Posted April 15, 2019 It doesn't normally take anywhere near 10 minutes. The counter counts down from 10 minutes, but optimal transfer alignment is normally reached after 2 minutes and 30 seconds (7:30 on the counter).

Thanks I tend to hit short when I drop JDAMs at 8000ft. I've had more consistent success at 18000ft. The outer circle is Max range. The inner circle is Min range. But I think get well within the outer circle and watch the HUD also for the In Range cue. Avoid entering the inner circle or you will be too near. EcceHomo Posted April 15, 2019 Posted April 15, 2019 By the way, if DCS F-18C does not have POS/AINS, the accuracy of JDAM should be greatly reduced. There's no such thing in the game.
Manuel_108 Posted April 15, 2019 Posted April 15, 2019 For JDAM activation, see the picture None of this is simulated in DCS, right? It’s just a simple countdown timer.
