Gianky Posted April 22, 2019 Posted April 22, 2019 Hi guys! I'd like to buy something for this Easter sale, but I'm really undecided... I have FC3, A-10C, F/A-18C and the F-14B, plus a couple of warbirds (Mustang and Spit). I already have all the maps. So, I'm at a point where I'm pretty decent with the modern modules I have (I dropped most hours on the Hornet, the Cat comes second and it's quickly gaining the top spot, the Hog is the one I'm less confident in and has the less hours. Right now, I'm mostly flying online (in Hoggit servers), and I haven't flown the warbirds much. My main doubt is: should I buy a new module or some campaigns? If I buy a new module (I was thinking about buying my first chopper), I put new stuff to learn in the pipeline, that I can use online, but then, it's true that I still have to master the ones I have (with the possible exception of the Hornet). If I buy new campaigns (I was thinking about Hog, Spit and Mustang campaigns), I'll add content to the modules, especially the ones I used less, like the warbirds, but then it's true that I spend most of my time in MP, not SP. So, what would you do? Module or campaigns?
Cobra747 Posted April 22, 2019 Posted April 22, 2019 I like content that adds something new or different. Have you considered the Harrier or if you are happy with your jets then I also really enjoy the Huey.
Bronco Posted April 22, 2019 Posted April 22, 2019 What makes you happy, this is about enjoying. DCS WORLD [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

Razbam has recently confirmed they will make it as a separate module, so I'll just wait. As for the Huey, is it easy to learn? Keep present that I never flew choppers, even if I know the theory behind them.
Rudel_chw Posted April 23, 2019 Posted April 23, 2019 As for the Huey, is it easy to learn? Keep present that I never flew choppers, even if I know the theory behind them. The Huey is very simple systems-wise, but it does really require to have rudders pedals .. otherwise it can be really difficult to master. I would purchase all the recent Campaigns of the Spit and P51 .. they are really well done and at only 5 bucks a piece it is a lot of entertainment per buck :) For work: iMac mid-2010 of 27" - Core i7 870 - 6 GB DDR3 1333 MHz - ATI HD5670 - SSD 256 GB - HDD 2 TB - macOS High Sierra For Gaming: 34" Monitor - Ryzen 3600 - 32 GB DDR4 2400 - nVidia RTX2080 - SSD 1.25 TB - HDD 10 TB - Win10 Pro - TM HOTAS Cougar Mobile: iPad Pro 12.9" of 256 GB

Thanks for the suggestion, I was thinking about them. How about the A-10 campaigns? Specifically Enemy within, Stone Shield and Piercing Fury?
Zoomer Posted April 23, 2019 Posted April 23, 2019 (edited) The Mirage I feel, is a must have module for DCS. The Harrier is also a good buy at 50% off. I say treat yourself and get both. Then again I have them all bar the CEII, no rush with that particular one. As for for a heli, go for the Mi-8. It`s a very well done module. Edited April 23, 2019 by Zoomer
FragBum Posted April 23, 2019 Posted April 23, 2019 Nothing wrong with any of the choppers, but I'd say that anyway. :D  Control is an illusion which usually shatters at the least expected moment. Gazelle Mini-gun version is endorphins with rotors. See above. Currently rolling with a Asus Z390 Prime, 9600K, 32GB RAM, SSD, 2080Ti and Windows 10Pro, Rift CV1. bu0836x and Scratch Built Pedals, Collective and Cyclic.
Rudel_chw Posted April 23, 2019 Posted April 23, 2019 Thanks for the suggestion, I was thinking about them. How about the A-10 campaigns? Specifically Enemy within, Stone Shield and Piercing Fury? I havent yet played the new version of TEW, but the old one was very good. Piercing Fury was also very nice and enjoyable, here is a sample of it by its author: ilURuAtIll8 I havent played Stone Shield yet. mungo13 Posted April 26, 2019 Posted April 26, 2019 I hope you wouldn't mind if I add same type of question by myself - I just do not want to spoil it here as there ise already couple of the shopping threads. I did some short flying (I am thus beginner to the DCS) - mostly in FC3 planes. Over the time I bought couple of planes (Mi-8, B. Shark 2, F-86, P-51, Mig-21, A-10C). But I am thinking about adding one more. I am not looking for (nearly) full-price ones, thus F/A-18 and Tomcat are out. At the moment the most attractive seems to be Mirage 2000 and Viggen. If for nothing else that because I like those two for a long time. I am not looking for competitive online bird as I am interested in offline game. So any advice? Thanks in advance.

I own both, and my heart was won over by the Viggen .. loved its cold war avionics and interdiction mission style. The best trait of the Mirage, for me, was the excellent included missions crafted by Baltic Dragon, with the training missions flowing smoothly into the built in campaign ... much superior in this aspect to the viggen (which still lacks a proper campaign) For work: iMac mid-2010 of 27" - Core i7 870 - 6 GB DDR3 1333 MHz - ATI HD5670 - SSD 256 GB - HDD 2 TB - macOS High Sierra For Gaming: 34" Monitor - Ryzen 3600 - 32 GB DDR4 2400 - nVidia RTX2080 - SSD 1.25 TB - HDD 10 TB - Win10 Pro - TM HOTAS Cougar Mobile: iPad Pro 12.9" of 256 GB

I recently bought the M2000 and am having a lot of offline fun with it, the training missions and campaign are both really, really good. If you have Nevada then the red flag campaign is equally awesome.

Did some quick flights ... there is long way ahead :pilotfly: Viggen is now No.1 on my "to buy" list.

Viggen does take a little bit of time to learn
Gianky Posted April 28, 2019 Author Posted April 28, 2019 (edited) So, as the sale is approaching its ending, I made up my mind. Thank you all for your advices, I read them all. In the end, I resisted the urge to buy new modules (Huey, in first place... I guess rotary wings will have to wait a bit longer) and went with more content for the modules I already own, especially the ones I use the least, hoping to learn them better (while having fun, of course!) The Enemy Within, Operation Piercing Fury, The Big Show and The Blue-nosed Bastards of Bodney have just landed on my SSD! Again, thank you all, take care, have fun and good hunting!
