The one w/ 'INCR' label at the forward end and 'DECR' at the back end of it's travel. It has a little detent at it's central position which could be ignored. Wondering what it could be used for in the FA-18.

On most aircraft I use it for the zoom axis, on the Bf-109 for the elevator trim axis.

yes i use it also as the Zoom axis on all planes. just be aware when you have some jitter in the axis you need to adjust your TW background lighting to either full power or nothing. all settings in between cause some jitter in that axis on my TM.

Zoom it is then. Apparently it was pre-programmed this way. I had never moved it while flying before and, when I did, it zoomed the view. thanks guys.

Can you get it work as a slider? i.e. as a one to one mapping where the axis position directly controls the radar elevation.

I can only get it work in this weird mode where it works more like a momentary switch. To move the radar elevation a little bit up you have to move the axis from center and then quickly recenter it or it'll just keep going up.

I could not get it to behave the way you want. Having said that, after the initial surprise, I like the way it works. By varying the angle from the center detent you can change the speed of adjustment and that makes adjustments more controllable than by using a hat switch.

Too bad I need that slider for the Zoom axis. Otherwise, I would use it for Radar Elevation and be very happy with it.

When I tried that I had the curve saturation down to 5 IIRC because it is extremely super sensitive without.

Actually I have that radar elevation on the mini stick right now, since I'm used to do my TDC slewing with my stick hat and a modifier key anyway and the stick doesn't make it any more precise really to justify it's use for it. Plus I can use the trigger and the same modifier key for depress.

Hi Tomsk, It only works like the ‘momentary switch’ you describe for me also. But I am happy with it this way. I just centre the slider at start and then it works fine as an up/down paddle

I do agree with you !

It would be much more intuitive and usefull if this control could react in the kind of absolute mode that you describe :

1 position of the control <=> 1 position of the antenna (not the speed of the antenna movement)

But I don't think it is possible directly in the DCS Command page by a classical manner ...

For this purpose you may need to go for the "Target Software Environnement" of Warthog ThrusMaster HOTAS, and program it yourself ... it should be doable this way !

I just bought a TM WH. Was concerned that there was jitter on my throttle also. And, you can see the LED's flickering. I thought I had a bad unit. Going to try what you suggested. Thanks.
