Gierasimov Posted April 29, 2019 Posted April 29, 2019 Hi With DCS Hornet depicting F/A-18C from around 2003, I think there was no night mode capable Joint Helmet Mounted Cueing System for Hornet drivers. Sources like pilots and magazines suggest that the Navy would be limited to either NVGs or JHMCS but not both at a time. DCS Hornet allows using both at the same time. Jak525 Posted April 29, 2019 Posted April 29, 2019 Indeed, I also heard this from pilots on the Fighter Pilot Podcast. They said they'd normally take NVGs instead of HMD or in large flights they might have a mix. I think the only HMD+NVG simultaneous tech is the F-35's one.

Jak525 Posted April 29, 2019 Posted April 29, 2019 That's interesting. Guess they are able to do NVG with JHMCS.
Kev2go Posted April 29, 2019 Posted April 29, 2019 But that's 2017 though. Was this capability available back in 2005? AMEDooley Posted April 29, 2019 Posted April 29, 2019 And from a E/A-18G so not the same thing. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Sandman1330 Posted April 30, 2019 Posted April 30, 2019 In the aircraft I fly, we have a small attachment that goes on the right tube of the NVG that provides a HUD in the NVG (it’s a little screen that goes in front of the tube). It’s not positionally tracked like the JHMCS, it just provides flight information, but it shows that you can display information in the NVG. I don’t imagine it to be too much of a stretch to make it positionally aware and provide the same functionality of a JHMCS. I have no real hornet specific info to back this up though. Our Hornet is more 2005ish, and while we are not sure when this feature was deployed we are ok with having it in DCS World.
