I am a long time gamer, but fairly new to Sim gaming, both racing and flight sims, but as soon as I started to dive a bit further into it I noticed that there are a lot of tools and accessories out there for sim racing and sim flight to make immersion better. I guess the main ones are different "cockpits" and chairs for rigging up everything. Also butt kickers seems neat and have potential to enhance immersion. Then there is obviously VR etc.

I wonder if there are any more tools and accessories I have not listed that can enhance the experience?

And what are considered the best ones when it comes to cockpits, butt kickers etc etc?

Also what are the best progams when it comes to setting up butt kickers etc? I have heard of SimVibe and SimShaker

Not sure if this precisely meets your definition , but i feel one of the best immersion creaters in DCS is software . Namely VoiceAttack with Vaicom Pro . This combo allows you to to radio AI naturally , by pushing a ptt and speaking , instead of dealing with f-keys and menus . A Hotas is also highly recommended , as it minimises use of the keyboard . Finally , i should reinforce your own mention of VR-the ultimate immersion tool . Nothing like being IN the cockpit for immersion .

9700k @ stock , Aorus Pro Z390 wifi , 32gb 3200 mhz CL16 , 1tb EVO 970 , MSI RX 6800XT Gaming X TRIO , Seasonic Prime 850w Gold , Coolermaster H500m , Noctua NH-D15S , CH Pro throttle and T50CM2/WarBrD base on Foxxmounts , CH pedals , Reverb G2v2

Thanks! I have heard about VoiceAttack and it sounds really awesome and I have been planning to try it out, but I have not heard about Vaicom Pro, how is it different from VoiceAttack? Also do you recommend any specific michrophone setup?

I have the Thrustmaster Warthog stick, throttle and pedals so I am set there :)

Vaicom Pro is a plug-in for VoiceAttack .

It works well with either my headphone mic (before) or my Rift mic (now) .

VR, buttkicker, SRS, Blue Flag

What is Blue Flag?

Another immersion tool I found out about was the wind fan simulators that simulate wind, I guess that is mostly cool in driving games with an open cab though, but have anyone used it for a flight simulator? Maybe some old planes or it could be cool to feel the wind when you eject from the plane or open the canopy.

The only I found where the ones on simracingstudios sites. Are there others also?

1. Hotas

2. VR (if you want immersion then this will get you 90% there)

3. Home cockpit. Having the main switches/mfds in place is awesome as is feeling an actual 'frame' around your body. Taxiing while resting your arms on the top edges of the cockpit is awesome.

4. Buttkicker, or home made tactile transducers if you're cheap like me

You are probably getting the idea - but absolutely VR!

The experience of actually sitting in a 1:1 cockpit and really looking around just makes DCS amazing. Even just the physicality of dogfighting and actually straining to look behind you and using the controls etc - all with no pesky G-forces lol. Landing is a lot easier also in VR - be it fixed wing or especially choppers.

Also I would say using button boxes like the ones from DSD, and also the Cougar MFD's from Thrustmaster - much better to physically interact with switches and buttons compared to using a mouse to click them.

Using external switches like that while in VR is super easy once you get used to it - and also with a little imagination to help locate and differentiate various controls from each other for even quicker selection and use.

Edit: Forgot to mention, all the above while seated in a fixed rig with the stuff mounted as required around you, such as an Obutto rig or similar.
