159th_Viper Posted January 31, 2011 Posted January 31, 2011 Someone has to do something about that load. Soldiers are like donkeys nowadays, can`t run fast with your house on your back, which makes you an easy target. Oh you'll be surprised how fast your legs carry you when those lead wasps start buzzing about your ears......and not to mention how fast a hole gets dug :D 1 Novice or Veteran looking for an alternative MP career? mikoyan Posted January 31, 2011 Posted January 31, 2011 I know its not as good as some of the other pics here, but this is a shot from outside Dobbins ARB, where they test fly the F-22s after they complete their assembly. I have the larger pic somewhere, probably on my memory card in my camera...if its not on the phone I tossed a few months ago. This one is an unpainted F-22. Hitman make sure you keep a look out' I saw a v-22 osprey bound for Dobbins las thursday! 1
topol-m Posted February 1, 2011 Posted February 1, 2011 Oh you'll be surprised how fast your legs carry you when those lead wasps start buzzing about your ears......and not to mention how fast a hole gets dug :D hehe still if I was out there I`d prefer machines to carry all that stuff for me (humvees, trucks, helis, etc.) while I keep only the most necessary. BTW does anyone know what is all this stuff that makes the soldier look like Mc Donalds addicted fat lady? Any link to a list of what the US Army/MC gear consists of? And what part of this can be dumped during combat without worries about sanctions? [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
hitman Posted February 1, 2011 Posted February 1, 2011 Hitman make sure you keep a look out' I saw a v-22 osprey bound for Dobbins las thursday! They are stationed here for the next few weeks I think...I seen a pair flying yesterday. Ill have to get some pics, if I can get down to the flight line...but they frown on us having cameras on the facility. They been here over a week now. :music_whistling: Intel 13900k @ 5.8ghz | 64gb GSkill Trident Z | MSI z790 Meg ACE | Zotac RTX4090 | Asus 1000w psu | Slaw RX Viper 2 pedals | VPForce Rhino/VKB MCE Ultimate + STECS Mk2 MAX / Virpil MongoosT50+ MongoosT50CM | Virpil TCS+/ AH64D grip/custom AH64D TEDAC | Samsung Odyssey G9 + Odyssey Ark | Next Level Racing Flight Seat Pro | WinWing F-18 MIPS | No more VR for this pilot.

hitman Posted February 1, 2011 Posted February 1, 2011 (edited) I had the chance to meet with the snowbirds demo team in October before they started practicing their aerobatic maneuvers. They were on a tour of our facility, and they let some of us have lunch with them. Lot of great talented kids flying these planes. 59th_LeFty Posted February 4, 2011 Posted February 4, 2011 Please someone explain the phenomenon, specifically the "flames" coming out of the engine, I've noticed it on many Hornet vids and pics, but not on any other aircrafts... Avilator Posted February 4, 2011 Posted February 4, 2011 Please someone explain the phenomenon, specifically the "flames" coming out of the engine, I've noticed it on many Hornet vids and pics, but not on any other aircrafts... The flames in the air behind the aircraft look like the result of a possible compressor stall. The flames "attached" to the engines are an artifact of the afterburners. The exact design of the burners is what determines the color and shape of the flames. I only respond to that little mechanical voice that says "Terrain! Terrain! Pull Up! Pull Up!" You still have to take exposure time of photo taking into consideration as well. You can get pics of long and short afterburner trail, depending from camera settings.
