LARGE Posted April 26, 2012 Posted April 26, 2012 Very hard to watch. Trapped Pilot Drowns in Sinking Cockpit (1958) - Captured on Camera [HD]. The aircraft piloted by Commander J D Russell coming in to land on HMS Victorious in the Solent, Hampshire, it touches down, hooks onto the arrester wires and the plane then rolls along the deck. A rescue helicopter lowers a man down to try and help Commander Russell. But the waves lap over the cockpit and the aircraft sinks. why didnt he eject.. it was worth the try, even without the straps to the seat i guess...

2IAE-CrashBG Posted April 27, 2012 Posted April 27, 2012 If you look closely you'll see it's not the engine burning :imho: All videos and photos we're taken, all that is known is that it happened on take off. But whatever it was, glad the pilots are okay! [sIGPIC]http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e381/46crash/crahshig.png[/sIGPIC] Bulgarian DCS Community
59th_Buncsi Posted April 27, 2012 Posted April 27, 2012 (edited) If you look closely you'll see it's not the engine burning :imho: I think it's because of the extended fire on the tail side, but i still thinks the blades burst in the combustion chamber. But you are right, the fuel was burning :D Edited April 27, 2012 by 59th_Buncsi [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
