jpm1 Posted April 16, 2011 Posted April 16, 2011 HGU-56/P + MFS I quit using the MFS because I only fly nights, and the MFS doesn't work very well when the visor is up have to have the visor up when the goggles are down). Good for keeping wind noise off of the mic boom I suppose, but I guess I'm just lazy. ;) less than 150g nice . so when you fly at night you aren't protected against flying debrish anymore , it may be tricky to use the googles in such conditions . i believe you're a pilot not a gunner , aren't you ? AlphaOneSix Posted April 17, 2011 Posted April 17, 2011 Not a pilot, I'm a crew chief/flight engineer. Or I guess you could call me a door gunner since I sit in a door and I have a gun, but my day job is a mechanic and at night I go flying. 1

Avilator Posted April 17, 2011 Posted April 17, 2011 Unbelievable video: Hl9u-h_btBo So was that just the missile that hit the ground? That looked/sounded like a pretty serious explosion. AlphaOneSix Posted April 17, 2011 Posted April 17, 2011 ok but isn't it annoying to use the googles without the visor with all the debris around It's only bad during dust landings, and then I'll usually just squint and it works out. But if I know ahead of time that we're doing several dust landings (we don't typically do them unplanned) then I wear my Wiley SG-1's. I've never had them fog up and they don't get in the way of the NVG's...very nice.

Cool, I got these few years back, I like 'em 'cause they completely overlay my regular dioptre glasses an keep them on my nose without a chance of falling off during head jerks or contacts! So I also use 'em for active sports such as downhill cycling, basketball and airsoft. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Pilotasso Posted April 18, 2011 Posted April 18, 2011 So was that just the missile that hit the ground? That looked/sounded like a pretty serious explosion. It appears the rocket lost power just before breaking the clouds, it came backwards with most of its fuel still onboard. Hydrogen packs a big punch when it explodes. .

mvsgas Posted April 20, 2011 Posted April 20, 2011 C-17 crash at Elmendorf AFB (Alaska) All four crew members killed. R.I.P. http://www.airforcetimes.com/news/2010/07/ap_c17_crash_072910/ Someone showed me this today, never seen it before in you tube, terrible. They where apparently practicing for an airshow. To whom it may concern, I am an idiot, unfortunately for the world, I have a internet connection and a fondness for beer....apologies for that. Thank you for you patience. Many people don't want the truth, they want constant reassurance that whatever misconception/fallacies they believe in are true..
