Can anyone tell me if it is possible to edit any, for example, .ini files for DCS to manually adjust the aliasing levels beyond the presets. I know it can be done for shadows but fails IC but to be honest, running the thing on RTX with everything maxed out on a 32" 1440p monitor and still seeing jaggies everywhere is getting exhausting. Seems to be worse as of late? :(

Enough to make me want to go back to my old 640x480

Have you tried using nvidia Profile Inspector before?

Get it from here https://github.com/Orbmu2k/nvidiaProfileInspector/releases/

set your ingame MSAA to 4x then open profile inspector and set Antialiasing - Transparency Supersampling to 8x Sparse Grid as show in the screenshot below.

I only use Tint and SMAA from Reshade, the rest seem to compound the problem i.e. sharpening the jaggies.

NV CP is maxxed out too in relevant areas but will give Inspector a go as Mustang recommends

in this game AA is almost non existent. don't bother.

i hope they will find a fix

I am wondering if has this setting any visible visual improvment within the game.

I will give it a try

This certainly gives a quality boost but for me with multiple screens it’s just that little too much drain on performance. I went back to 4x MSAA in game and MFAA enabled in Profile inspector. It’s an acceptable compromise for me.

It helped a bit but massive impact on frames. Still playable in less dense missions but still miles off what i would hope for i.e. runway markings etc

shouldn't SGSSAA and MSAA always be set to the same amount, so if 4xMSAA then 4xSGSSAA?

So many modules, so little time...

Yes I have read about this and that might be the case with other games, but I have tried 8x setting with DCS and the image quality looks even better on my machine so I have stuck with that.

edit: I have also started using DCS SSAA 1.5x along with 4xMSAA and 8xSGSSAA, at 1920x1080 the picture is perfect and while there is some framerate loss it's acceptable.

SSAA 1.5x is still a best choice i think. Best performance and visual quality compromise.

With 1440p, I use MSAA 2x. I don't see any increase in FPS with it off...same with SSAA 1.5 on/off. If I saw a significant increase in FPS, I would keep all aliasing off, but on my system it isn't the case so I just keep some sort of aliasing on.

Sounds like you didn't delete fxo & methaders2 folders after making changes.

Nope...I make sure I do that after every graphics change, DCS update, and GPU driver update. On my system, aliasing has no noticeable effect on FPS for some reason.

In my quest to improve FPS in the F-14, I have noticed that shadows by far have the greatest impact on FPS, followed by mirrors and visib range. I wish I saw an increase in FPS by disabling aliasing. At 1440p, it is something I could sacrifice, because lowering other settings has too much of an adverse effect on image quality.

This seems strange to me.

With an RX580 (1920x1800) and my other settings, going higher than MSAA 2X brings me into the 30's. Same with TSAA 1.5 only. Despite the 1080ti being a way more faster card, I would expect some impact on performance.

When I use SSAA1.5x alone w/o MSAA2x my mirrors dont work :(

Just spend an hour tweaking again after watching Spudknockers YT video... sigh. LoL

When changing the MSAA/SSAA is necessary to delete fxo/metashaders2 otherwise don't work mirrors.
