Darcwaynard Posted February 7, 2020 Posted February 7, 2020 Hi guys just wondering if there is a way to shut off the refueling probe light. When refueling at night with NVGs the basket lights up like a supernova once its within a couple feet of contact making it difficult to put the thing in the thing smoothly. Am I missing something with the lighting switches? Gierasimov Posted February 7, 2020 Posted February 7, 2020 It's automatic, the only way to switch this off is via the exterior light master switch Intel Ultra 9 285K :: ROG STRIX Z890-A GAMING WIFI :: Kingston Fury 64GB :: MSI RTX 4080 Gaming X Trio :: VKB Gunfighter MK.III MCG Ultimate :: VPC MongoosT-50 CM3 :: non-VR :: single player :: open beta

Robin_Hood Posted February 9, 2020 Posted February 9, 2020 The thing is, you're not supposed to refuel with NVGs, that's why it's not an issue IRL. I know it can be somewhat different in the sim and it don't hurt to do it (especially with the probe light sometimes not working, tanker lights sometimes hard to see and monitor-dependant visibility at night). 2nd French Fighter Squadron

Sent from my SM-A530W using Tapatalk It is certainly a bit challenging performing AAR at night without NVG, but doable. I use VR, have gamma set at 1.5 and is still possible..... Just more challenging, but doable. Don't have a reference for real life at this point, so can't compare. Willie Nelson Posted February 10, 2020 Posted February 10, 2020 I don's suppose anyone has a mission file for tanking off on a moonless night already saved that you're willing to share? Preferbably with the Stennis incorparated would be appreciated. Cheers. i7700k OC to 4.8GHz with Noctua NH-U14S (fan) with AORUS RTX2080ti 11GB Waterforce. 32GDDR, Warthog HOTAS and Saitek rudders. RED Posted February 10, 2020 Posted February 10, 2020 All the lights a tanker has to improve seeing the fuselage and refueling systems are not present on tankers in DCS. They should be the brightest thing up there, in DCS they are the darkest.

Hopefully we'll see improvements in 2.5.6. Also missing the moon lighting up the world. Fingers crossed. So sadly for the time being it is NVG's on the night refueling.
Harker Posted February 10, 2020 Posted February 10, 2020 I also find myself having to use the NVGs sometimes, if it's a moonless night etc, but I very much dislike it. They mess with my depth perception and make AAR much harder than it needs to be. I can't wait for light sources to actually illuminate stuff properly. XtraChrisP Posted February 28, 2020 Posted February 28, 2020 RAIDR, VIKNG, go cloak. RAIDR wilco. Pretty sure they do tank with NVGs on from time to time.
victorlima01 Posted February 29, 2020 Posted February 29, 2020 Everything's a tradeoff, and I think most guys don't use the goggles, but I've heard some guys do.
