Rhinozherous Posted February 9, 2020 Posted February 9, 2020 Hello! I just watched this video from Spudknocker and I think this would be a nice evolution for DCS. He talks about using a similar radial menu for DCS comms with AI like the one Heatblur uses in the F14. twistking Posted February 9, 2020 Posted February 9, 2020 yes, this would obviously be better. strange that he felt the need to make a 10min video from this. i mean the current coms menu is early 90s UI/UX. the fact that it could be improved does not need much explaining. nopotential Posted February 9, 2020 Posted February 9, 2020 i agree. i use track ir and a three screen setup so my radio menu is past my right wing tip.
QuiGon Posted February 10, 2020 Posted February 10, 2020 I'm actually not a friend of radial menues, as I rather press the F-keys to navigate through the menue instead of using the mouse or some other directional pointer like TIR. Sure, I could still do that with a radio menu, but the current menu is not taking away much of your screen, so you can still keep forward sight while going through the menu. So in short: I would like to keep the current menu. Intel i7-12700K @ 8x5GHz+4x3.8GHz + 32 GB DDR5 RAM + Nvidia Geforce RTX 2080 (8 GB VRAM) + M.2 SSD + Windows 10 64Bit DCS Panavia Tornado (IDS) really needs to be a thing!
Kula66 Posted February 10, 2020 Posted February 10, 2020 I personally find the current F-14 Jester menus too big, an immersion breaker and 'in your face' (literally) and much prefer the less intrusive DCS native radio menu system. And why only 8 options? When we use a 10 based number system? A right pain.
draconus Posted February 10, 2020 Posted February 10, 2020 Menu should be minimally intrusive just as it is. No for circles and graphics. Win10 i7-10700KF 32GB RTX4070S Quest 3 T16000M VPC CDT-VMAX TFRP FC3 F-14A/B F-15E CA SC NTTR PG Syria

emc Posted February 10, 2020 Posted February 10, 2020 Menu should be minimally intrusive just as it is. No for circles and graphics. but when you get images/graphics or icons...with text then you could disable text and leave only icons to get menu smaller and easier recognizable :) Take a look my mods CPU: i7 7700 | GPU: GeForce GTX 1080 8GB DDR5 | Motherboard: ASUSTeK PRIME B250M-A | RAM: 2x16GB DDR4-2400 | Output: Kingston HyperX Cloud II | Edifier C2XD 2.1 | Controlls: Saitek X-56 Rhino | Saitek Flight Rudder Pedals | Saitek Multi/Radio/Switch Panels | Thrustmaster MFD Cougar | Elgato Stream Deck XL | OpenTrack with LaserClip | VoiceAttack with VAICOM Pro plugin

twistking Posted February 10, 2020 Posted February 10, 2020 Menu should be minimally intrusive just as it is. No for circles and graphics. fair point. however i think that ED could still come up with soemthing that would work better while still being minimaly intrusive. i don't hate the current solution, but it is obvious that not much thought went into it. i'm sure that it could be absolutely improved to everybodys liking. is it big enough of an issue to warrant the work put into it? maybe not. on the other hand, with all AI and player comms being sheduled for an update this year, maybe it would make sense to put some work into streamlining the comms menu... [...] so video which could be 30 sec long now is 10 min... with same information repeats over and over again... you're probably right.
