Hello!

I just watched this video from Spudknocker and I think this would be a nice evolution for DCS.

He talks about using a similar radial menu for DCS comms with AI like the one Heatblur uses in the F14.

Have Fun!

yes, this would obviously be better.

strange that he felt the need to make a 10min video from this. i mean the current coms menu is early 90s UI/UX. the fact that it could be improved does not need much explaining.

I'm actually not a friend of radial menues, as I rather press the F-keys to navigate through the menue instead of using the mouse or some other directional pointer like TIR.

Sure, I could still do that with a radio menu, but the current menu is not taking away much of your screen, so you can still keep forward sight while going through the menu.

So in short: I would like to keep the current menu.

DCS Panavia Tornado (IDS) really needs to be a thing!

I personally find the current F-14 Jester menus too big, an immersion breaker and 'in your face' (literally) and much prefer the less intrusive DCS native radio menu system. And why only 8 options? When we use a 10 based number system? A right pain.

Menu should be minimally intrusive just as it is. No for circles and graphics.

12 is a lot nicer ;) divide by 2,3,4 and 6 so it will be easier for sub menus to divide whole circle depending of numbers of items :LD

but when you get images/graphics or icons...with text then you could disable text and leave only icons to get menu smaller and easier recognizable :)

this is a example when stupid requirements are set... for 90% it is due to youtube suggestion algorithm... which prefer videos with certain length... short video -> less content, lest content is potentially lest interesting/valuable for viewers....

so video which could be 30 sec long now is 10 min... with same information repeats over and over again...

fair point. however i think that ED could still come up with soemthing that would work better while still being minimaly intrusive. i don't hate the current solution, but it is obvious that not much thought went into it. i'm sure that it could be absolutely improved to everybodys liking. is it big enough of an issue to warrant the work put into it? maybe not.

on the other hand, with all AI and player comms being sheduled for an update this year, maybe it would make sense to put some work into streamlining the comms menu...

you're probably right.
