FNJolly_Roger Posted November 2, 2007 Posted November 2, 2007 Hi !!! In black shark , can the runways be permanent interdicted in a multy player game??? one example In lomac i bomb the runway and a short time the others aircraft can normaly use it :( It would be more realistic if the runway still out of operation until the session ends ?? And runway strikes could count points too !!! well thats it... sorry for my terrible english:(
Eagle Driver Posted November 2, 2007 Posted November 2, 2007 I think it's a good idea. Many aircraft, particularly heavy bombers, are ideal or even specialize in runway destruction. Currently, I can't honestly see any difference (in FC) between penetration/cratering weapons and normal iron bombs. Wdigman Posted November 2, 2007 Posted November 2, 2007 This would also make a dynamic campaign more realistic. More damage the longer it takes to repair.
Eagle Driver Posted November 2, 2007 Posted November 2, 2007 Or a realistic repair, patched portions of runway, etc. It would be cool to overfly an airfield crawling with big yellow construction vehicles pouring concrete/asphalt and steamrolling it level, painting, so on. Eagle Driver Posted November 2, 2007 Posted November 2, 2007 If they make a Strike Eagle it will be more than a couple. 12 Rockeyes, not counting wing stations, OORAH! In 2027 when they get a hold of all the info and manuals :) i7-2600k@4GHz, 8GB, R9 280X 3GB, SSD, HOTAS WH, Pro Flight Combat Pedals, TIR5
Eagle Driver Posted November 2, 2007 Posted November 2, 2007 No, you're thinking Raptor. I've said it before, it is being done already. FNJolly_Roger Posted November 3, 2007 Author Posted November 3, 2007 I would like to know what the opinion of developer team about this..."feature" :) think that would be interesting, and that would bring more dynamism for multi player.... because we have to pay more attention on base defense and no simply take off and hunt Jolly
Yellonet Posted November 3, 2007 Posted November 3, 2007 No, you're thinking Raptor. I've said it before, it is being done already.By an american company that can get a hold of things that a russian company can't? I would like an 'E' if I could get a Su-30 or 34 to pair it up with :) i7-2600k@4GHz, 8GB, R9 280X 3GB, SSD, HOTAS WH, Pro Flight Combat Pedals, TIR5
Eagle Driver Posted November 3, 2007 Posted November 3, 2007 Just make sure the ME only allows ten -34's like IRL and we'll have it. :smilewink: Anyway, good point about the Russian company thing, hadn't really thought of that. I guess that would probably make it harder for XSi to acquire Sukhoi info. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] If you fly a perfect Defensive BFM and the bandit does a perfect Offensive... MBot Posted November 4, 2007 Posted November 4, 2007 I would like to know what the opinion of developer team about this..."feature" :) think that would be interesting, and that would bring more dynamism for multi player.... because we have to pay more attention on base defense and no simply take off and hunt Good idea, but considering that for the next 2-3 years we will fly Ka-50, A-10 and AH-64 it is pretty unimportant. None of the aircraft can carry anti-runway weapons (and bombing runways with the A-10 would be suicide anyway), none of the aircraft can fight off a anti-runway strike, and two of the aircraft don't even need a runway.
Sundowner.pl Posted November 4, 2007 Posted November 4, 2007 The A-10 can carry BLU-107 (don't think thoes are in service anymore) and Paveway bombs equiped with BLU-109 and BLU-116 warheads. They can be droped as dumb bombs or laser guided. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] "If a place needs helicopters, it's probably not worth visiting." - Nick Lappos
joey45 Posted November 4, 2007 Posted November 4, 2007 the A10 is not a strike aircraft. as regards to the BLU-107 it might of been tested but not necesaraly be cleared to use them... and as MBot said.. ...(and bombing runways with the A-10 would be suicide anyway)... The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance. Sundowner.pl Posted November 4, 2007 Posted November 4, 2007 Not really, you can climb high enough to be outside of SA-9, SA-7 and ZSU-23-4 range, and drop Paveway guided on Apache's laser  [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] "If a place needs helicopters, it's probably not worth visiting." - Nick Lappos
Eagle Driver Posted November 6, 2007 Posted November 6, 2007 Remember people, this is a warfare sim. Just because WE can't do something, doesn't mean it shouldn't be done at all. Let the AI Strike Aircraft do something. Runway-strikes are a major part of war strategy, just look at Israel's six-day war. Yes, but as long as it wont have a direct effect on the player (helicopter) or the player can't do anything about it (A-10) it is a unimportant gameplay element. That coding time is better spent on the enviornment the player operates in, that beeing mechanized ground war. We should remeber that DCS will at the moment be a helicopter sim and not a war simulator. Once we will be flying Tornados or Jaguars I certainly agree that detailed peristent damage of airfields is an important feature.
