Rikus Posted November 20, 2007 Posted November 20, 2007 I know with BS we will have more terrain with more quality. But what happens form Kerch to the left. We will have with less quality? or we directly cannot fly with Ka-50 over Kirovskoye and all left side. Greetings
VMFA117_Poko Posted November 20, 2007 Posted November 20, 2007 I'm afraid there will be no Crimean Peninsula in DCS. Limitation of the graphic engine or something like that... But I'm not sure for 100%.
EvilBivol-1 Posted November 20, 2007 Posted November 20, 2007 That's correct, the Crimea had to be "flushed" to make room in the database for the new terrain areas and increased density. It will be like all other unmapped areas of the terrain - flat and featureless. - EB [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Nothing is easy. Everything takes much longer. The Parable of Jane's A-10 Forum Rules

EvilBivol-1 Posted November 20, 2007 Posted November 20, 2007 Me too, but it isn't a bug at all. The engine was originally designed to handle a finite number of terrain objects, so some of them had to be removed to make room for others to be added. - EB [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Nothing is easy. Rikus Posted November 20, 2007 Author Posted November 20, 2007 OMG!!! Is it possible in a long future, an improve of the engine an add Crimea? Greetings
Aeroscout Posted November 20, 2007 Posted November 20, 2007 I'm going to miss the Crimean... well, i'll just have to fly FC then... DCS Wishlist: 1) FIX THE DAMN RIVERS!!! 2) Spherical or cylindrical panorama view projection. 3) Enhanced input options (action upon button release, etc). 4) Aircraft flight parameter dump upon exit (stick posn, attitude, rates, accel, control volume, control-surface positions, SAS bias, etc). 5) ADS-33 maneuver courses as static objects. 6) Exposed API or exports of trim position and stick force for custom controllers. 7) Select auto multiple audio devices
EvilBivol-1 Posted November 20, 2007 Posted November 20, 2007 OMG!!! Is it possible in a long future, an improve of the engine an add Crimea? Greetings As we've said, ED is working on a new engine. Hopefully it will not be limited in the same way, but I can't confirm this yet. - EB [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Nothing is easy. Everything takes much longer. The Parable of Jane's A-10 Forum Rules
Boberro Posted November 20, 2007 Posted November 20, 2007 As we've said, ED is working on a new engine. Hopefully it will not be limited in the same way, but I can't confirm this yet. GreyStork Posted November 20, 2007 Posted November 20, 2007 Wildlife at last? I'm sorry, but as a member of the old Jane's Apache Longbow gang, I have to ask: Will there be wildlife? Will we finally get those anacondas? :smilewink: [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] - Study flight sim geek since Falcon 3.0 -

Avimimus Posted November 20, 2007 Posted November 20, 2007 I personally wouldn't mind it if a few other theatres like Afghanistan were modeled instead... ...especially if they had wildlife. Anyone remember Commanche Gold or Jane's WWII Fighters?

Will we finally get those anacondas? :smilewink: Since you can now walk the pilot after ejecting, ED is modeling the various deadly wildlife present in the Caucasus region. Along with angry villagers, the player will now have to battle insects, reptiles, birds and, when ejecting over water, man-eating fish. The new campaign system will now include long-term modeling of the effects of influenza, malaria and other illnesses on the pilot's performance and fatigue levels. Also, a dynamic model of seasonal animal migration is being implemented for a realistic representation of the various threats posed to the pilot by the animal kingdom throughout the different parts of the year. - EB [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Nothing is easy. Rikus Posted November 21, 2007 Author Posted November 21, 2007 I will pray for Crimea included in future then :) Many players love Crimea, specially Kerch and Kirovskoye Greetings
leafer Posted November 21, 2007 Posted November 21, 2007 No. Pray they expand the map beyond what we're used to. Frankly, I'm so darn tired of flying around the same terrain. What's the point of a new engine but nothing new to explore. Been there done that kind of thing. Peeling scab is more fun than flying new flyable over the same doggone piece of land. I want some jungle canopy! Now where can we move the war to so I can have some jungle canopy!? ED have been taking my money since 1995. :P
VMFA-Blaze Posted November 21, 2007 Posted November 21, 2007 How about moving to the Far Cry jungle.. Imagine flying the Ka-50 thought that environment, well maybe well see something like this happen in about 10 or 15 years... Weta43 Posted November 21, 2007 Posted November 21, 2007 No it's true, they've got a contract to do an epidemiological study sim for the UN on disease transmission vectors and they're going to build it into the DCS There's an interview with WAGS about the algorithms they used to get mosquitos to swarm in the sim, in next year's edition of Lancet. Cheers.

EvilBivol-1 Posted November 21, 2007 Posted November 21, 2007  You're right. For the record - I was being sarcastic. Sorry. There is no wildlife modeling in the sim. However, I have seen ED researching for information and audio samples of nature sounds in the region, so there is some movement toward this. - EB [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Nothing is easy. Avimimus Posted November 21, 2007 Posted November 21, 2007 Seriously, it would be cool to have angry villagers or enemy troops trying to capture you and there being a risk of dying of exposure while awaiting pick up...
