Terrain and Theatres (what would you like to lift off from?)

Out of curiosity, if you had your own firm and were given permission to produce a spin off of DCS:BS, what would you like to pursue?

Persian Gulf. Lots of opportunities in that one.

Pretty much the entire globe like X-Plane but I know that is asking a lot. Or is it? Austin did it for X-Plane and he's almost a one man show.

 

Hopefully though, over time, I can take off from my (unpimped) crib, fly to my mother-in-law's multicolored shack and give her a nice shout out with precision-guided munition. Right throw one of the cardboard covered windows. Nice.

X-plane eight uses fairly low detail in most areas, doesn't model anything north of sixty (or south of sixty) and I think he has four staff. Still, it's very impressive.

 

I think I'll vote for... Afghanistan!

Definately the Gulf, endless opportunity for US aircraft and older russian ones. It would be interesting to see scenarios where the USSR didn't collapse and sided with Iraq in '91. Because we're going to be seeing the A-10A and AH-64A, this would be an excellent area to have because it crawling with Hawgs and Apaches.

Gulf!!! Almost every major war has been fought there. Plus perfect historical terrain for A10, Apache, F 15, F 18, Mig 29, F 14 , Su 25 (oddly not the Su 27?). Plus we could fly Israeli airforce and tank hunting, scud hunting, Gulf War re-enactments would all be possible and amazingly interesting for multiplayer campaigns (how would you have fought Iraq in 91?).

While we're ground pounding, Afghanistan seems to have pretty good opportunities for missions for both sides ... ( & with a little imagination, between the sides - Russian forces against Afghani fighters & their covert US trainers/advisors/CIA CAS/US equiped Pakistani forces ...)

 

Or go East till the Caspian & collect the rest of Georgia, more of Russia, Chechnya (Caspian Sea Monsters) Planty of scope for both low level conflicts & all out war ...

ya gotta do the Fulda Gap. It's not been done adeqautely if at all (iirc). Imagine the battles philosophies. Imagine the scale and the horror. Second choice would be Korea (if you ever have the chance, see the film: Porkchop Hill, a classic). ;)

I will be first - Korea. Because of interesting terrain layout, airbases/airports rich, US vs Russian+Chineese technology conflict. Whole theatre can be easely closed in square. Falcon4 campaign was really well thought IMHO.
