Caliboy42 Posted March 5, 2020 Posted March 5, 2020 DCS forums these days feels like Groundhog day. Same old threads and same old posts. I've been a DCS user for little over 18 months, and I certainly share everyone's frustrations. But there's more to life than waiting for the Hornet to be completed. Whilst I do not regret buying the EA version of the bird because of the countless hours of fun its provided me, I am starting to question just how healthy this business model is for the consumer-end. But let's be honest - although the plane is far from being complete, there's no full-fidelity sim coming even close to what they've achieved. And this is a niche business - therefore risky business. For the time being I stand by ED and hope for their continued success. And while I want to say that I won't entertain EA products anymore, I have to confess this might not be true. How much I'd have missed this past year if I hadn't bought the Hornet! Am I contributing to the problem? Maybe... but there's just no right answer here. +1. Can I get an amen, brother?!? dawgie79 Posted March 5, 2020 Posted March 5, 2020 the clock is ticking. No it's not. ED is the only one in this niche market. Think about why that is. Ooh I don't know, maybe it's the nature of the focus (military hardware) and the complexity of coding such a thing.
QuiGon Posted March 5, 2020 Posted March 5, 2020 I am almost convinced that the team that works with the Hornet/Viper, is 100% working with the supercarriers project, or something else that keeps them busy for a long time. I am convinced that the team that works with the Hornet/Viper is currently working on some big things (A-G radar, TGP rework, new FLIR tech, ...) that needs some time to be done properly, instead of small additions that can be released every few weeks. Intel i7-12700K @ 8x5GHz+4x3.8GHz + 32 GB DDR5 RAM + Nvidia Geforce RTX 2080 (8 GB VRAM) + M.2 SSD + Windows 10 64Bit DCS Panavia Tornado (IDS) really needs to be a thing!
Bl00dWolf Posted March 5, 2020 Posted March 5, 2020 Likely comes with the A-G radar feature. no, it will never come. https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=4191476&postcount=31 i9 13900k 5.5Ghz; ASUS TUF RTX 3090 OC 24GB; 64GB ddr5 6400mhz cl30; 7 Tb SSD NVMe; 2Tb HDD; 40Tb NAS ZFS RAID1; LG 34GN850 3440x1440 160hz IPS; Hotas Warthog + VPC ACE Flight Rudder Pedals; TrackIR5; Quest3; DX7 Pro+ with HiFiMan Edition XS and Adam A7V MacBook PRO 16' 2023 M3 Max (14cpu-30gpu), DDR5 36Gb, 1Tb + 2Tb 990PRO Ext

You mean the Hornet/Viper team wait for the tech to become available in the core. :smartass: Windows 10 64bit, Intel i9-9900@5Ghz, 32 Gig RAM, MSI RTX 3080 TI, 2 TB SSD, 43" 2160p@1440p monitor.

Topper81 Posted March 5, 2020 Posted March 5, 2020 (edited) DCS Players: "The 2.5.6 open beta is a buggy mess and my game is unplayable! ED needs to fix this disaster ASAP!" Also DCS Players: "The last open beta patch contained only bug fixes for 2.5.6?!? Where are my new features?!?" To be clear: I was not critism the last or a a single update. I'm happy of the release of 2.5.6 and it's new "core functionality". And it's a beta so it may have bugs for sure. But I'm critism the management politic which gives me the feeling that they are more interested in making "fast profit early accsess products" (Hornet + Viper + Super Carrier) than completing a high quality product for this very special field of customers which is almost sold to the most customers which are interested in it. I fear that this will lead into furstrated long-time customers losing them, even for new early accsess products. As far as I can see, only 50% of the "ED Modern High Detailed Simulated Aircrafts" (In which I'm as a long time ED customer since flanker 1.0 are interested in) are finsihed: "Finished" (No Flaming Cliffs, no WW2) (3): A-10C L-39 Albatros Black Shark 2 "Early Access" (3): F-16C Viper Yak-52 F/A-18C Hornet And there are many more projects ED is working on: New maps, new weather system, implementing vulcan engine, api developement, which are all important topics for sure, but we cannot see the progress. So my proposal is for priorities is as follows 1A. Complete the unfinished modules which are in early accsess and implement new core functionality which is required for this moduels (e.g. AG Radar) (You cannot earn fast money with this, but you can win new customers because of completed modules etc.). So from the "long term view" this may be better than 3. 1B Implent new core functionality which is not required by 1A (Higher Performance by implementing Vulcan Engine, New weather enigine. With this, you can also win new customers because of better graphics / performance. 2. New maps and other modules ( I gues this could be done in parallel, because you need different techniques and specialists than for developing aircrafts, but it is also a very complex stuff I guess!). 3A/B. When you have people free becuase 1A or 2 is finished, you can develope new Early Access Products. This are only my personal thougts and maybe someone at ED with more knowledge has other/better ideas I cannot understand at the moment... Edited March 5, 2020 by Topper81

Also DCS Players: "The last open beta patch contained only bug fixes for 2.5.6?!? Where are my new features?!?" False binary. Most people expected both.
