britgliderpilot Posted December 28, 2007 Posted December 28, 2007 True, there's nothing stopping them... it's just my... maybe little pesimistic feeling that we won't get it in LockOn. It's been a while since many things (mods) have been announced by many 3rd party moders... and I presume it'll take few more weeks if not months more to get it all working properly. By that time BlackShark might already be out. Also fact that ED made these moders partners and are working together in making environment better I assume they would preffer having this mod in BlackShark before it gets to LockOn. If I would be owning a game/sim I'd preffer having better stuff in new product (in this case DSC) rather then old (LockOn). If patch 1.13 ever gets done again I assume then it would get this airbase mod. Again, this is just my hunch/opinion which I'm allowed to have, aye :D There's enough better stuff in Black Shark that they needn't really worry about 3rd party 3D objects . . . trust me on that ;) In fact, if ED want to keep fixed-wing fans onboard while we go through the rotorhead phase, it makes good sense to get the updates into LO:FC - keep it looking as pretty as possible, keep people entertained :) I don't know the timescales for either mod completion or Black Shark release - at a guess I'd say the latter would take longer. Either way, it would require the modders to keep working on FC alongside Black Shark, and that's something you'd really have to talk to them about. The lure of the new sim is considerable . . . let's hope they maintain some community enthusiasm, eh? http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v121/britgliderpilot/BS2Britgliderpilot-1.jpg
Highwayman-Ed Posted December 28, 2007 Posted December 28, 2007 Although GrandSurf is hard at work making these additions to BS, the SIM-MOD crew are making every effort to put as many of the objects and textures into FC as BS. There WILL be a release for FC at some point, but there are many sides to be considered when actually releasing a mod of any kind, and they are being worked on and FC will not be forgotten. ED Team Wags Posted December 28, 2007 ED Team Posted December 28, 2007 Just to clarify this matter, the guys and gals at Sim-Mod are free to use any and all work they create in the course of their content generation for a better DCS. In no way are they prohibited from releasing their LO:FC mods. Eagle has not nor will not dictate their development schedules or when they release their LO:FC mods – that is completely up to them. Now I feel I have maybe said something I shouldn't have :D but I hope I haven't. I only said I think this mod will be out with DCS before LockOn not because I think you guys dictate moders what and when to release, but because I just thought if I was making such a huge and good mod like Grandsurf's airbase mod (and few others) I'd want it first in DCS :) my appology if it sounded anything other than that. PC specs: Windows 11 Home | Asus TUF Gaming B850-Plus WiFi | AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D + LC 360 AIO | MSI RTX 5090 LC 360 AIO | 55" Samsung Odyssey Gen 2 | 64GB PC5-48000 DDR5 | 1TB M2 SSD for OS | 2TB M2 SSD for DCS | NZXT C1000 Gold ATX 3.1 1000W | TM Cougar Throttle, Floor Mounted MongoosT-50 Grip on TM Cougar board, MFG Crosswind, Track IR

That's great news .. so I guess we'll soon be seeing some new ground textures for Flaming Cliffs as well.. Now Black Shark is looking very realistic.. Thanks again Matt for the insight.. Avimimus Posted December 29, 2007 Posted December 29, 2007 That's a nice Kiowa, that is. This is all very impressive. The internal detail is high enough for one to comfortably ride in the back without the transition being jarring. I can easily see ejecting, evading and then being evacuated in the future of this sim.
Weta43 Posted December 29, 2007 Posted December 29, 2007 Those are some very nice looking models - awesome. This: I think I prefer a lot of medium poly helicopters rather than only a few high poly heli. I disagree with - if it's a Hi-Fi sim, let's have Hi-Fi models too. Presumably they can be carried forward through modules & will be with us for as long as the flanker models were .... The models look good, but I'm equaly impressed with the general look of the environment. It's all looking good. Thanks for the pics. Cheers.
Kula66 Posted December 29, 2007 Posted December 29, 2007 Nice ... but some of those shadows aren't working yet!
VMFA117_Poko Posted December 29, 2007 Posted December 29, 2007 All the best and good luck with Your work grandsurf!
grandsurf Posted December 29, 2007 Posted December 29, 2007 I saw Grandsurfs airbase in them screenshots. :music_whistling: Although GrandSurf is hard at work making these additions to BS, the SIM-MOD crew are making every effort to put as many of the objects and textures into FC as BS. Absolutely properly! We hope it does not last too long. Wishes to all a happy new year 2008.

ED, we need SAR choppers, we already have the internal model detail and the pilot can already walk around IIRC. I don't know the kind of modification this would entail, but video-makers would be in heaven! [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] If you fly a perfect Defensive BFM and the bandit does a perfect Offensive... Aeroscout Posted December 29, 2007 Posted December 29, 2007 New helicopters, pilot, gunner, and terrain objects. http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/index.php?end_pos=982&scr=products&lang=en Great! I love the details! I hope we can see animated pictures of these soon... I still like these little teaser movies from LOCKON. Awesome! Well, I'm glad everyone's so happy... so happy that all these high polly, High res textures, are going to slow down our computers. I'm also happy that this level of detail will never reach lock on, a simulation that actually featured jets. A simulation that had something for everyone, not just the heli pilots... Well, I'm glad your happy. As for me, well... (Sorry, but I just could not keep my mouth shut any longer.) DCS Wishlist: 1) FIX THE DAMN RIVERS!!! 2) Spherical or cylindrical panorama view projection. 3) Enhanced input options (action upon button release, etc). 4) Aircraft flight parameter dump upon exit (stick posn, attitude, rates, accel, control volume, control-surface positions, SAS bias, etc). 5) ADS-33 maneuver courses as static objects. 6) Exposed API or exports of trim position and stick force for custom controllers. 7) Select auto multiple audio devices
Kuky Posted December 29, 2007 Posted December 29, 2007 I think you're missing a point Aeroscout... DCS will have jets as well... so better have high poli models now even if they slow down our computers, as when our hardware gets better and better you'd be saying "why do we have such low poli crappy models? Can we get new models now?" Lol, first how can you say that Lock on (which only featured jets) had something for everyone compared to DCS (WICH YOU SAY only have helicopters). Secondly, you need to read the faqs about this game because like Kuky said they will add some fix-wings after. Don't you think its time for ED to move on whit something new instead of continuing a game for years? You want them to work on Lockon for how long? 20years? [p.s sorry for my english]
VMFA117_Poko Posted December 29, 2007 Posted December 29, 2007 No need to argue. Aeroscout! Don't worry. I think you'll get better FPS than in FSX now ;) (joke). Upgrading your rig might be unavoidable but you've got to do it anyway. Start saving money and again - don't worry :)
