It's early morning here in the UK and I decided to try out some modules I don't have, I have most of them though. Anyway, I wanted to try a few I have not got like the Mig 19, F16, the Spanish trainer jet thing plus some of the WWII stuff.

Personally i was really impressed with the J-17 module from Dekaworks, it has loads of potential for all you fighter jet combat jocks with AA/AG/Anti ship la de dar but I liked it because its go a retro look about it. This airframe looks comfortable in the 1960 era personally speaking.

I know some people say the cockpit was a bit naff graphically but they can easily sort that out. Next one was of course the Mig 19 for same reasons, I'm an old skool aircraft lover. I just wondered what other peoples thoughts were about their preference in buying any modules we have had the privilege of trying out for free for a generous length of time ?

Personally I am not that interested in the F16 at the present moment. I have F4 BMS for that until the DCS modules matures a bit more. I have also bought (as a gift) the F18 and it's brilliant, so the Supercarrier is a must buy for me now.

What's your thoughts on the Free to fly aircraft? Which ones are you going to keep flying after the freebie ends?

I flew the i-16 for a bit, then bought it. Fun little monster. The others I already own ;) its a great move by ED isn't it ?

Spitfire and F-16 are the only aircraft modules I don't have. For F-16, I'm in the same boat as Mizzy, so didn't even try. Spitfire, loved it, and will buy it.

Also tried WW2 assets and Persian Gulf, but I don't think I'll get them.

This free for all month was an excellent move from ED though, so kudos to them for that.

Wishlist: F-4E Block 53 +, MiG-27K, Su-17M3 or M4, AH-1F or W circa 80s or early 90s, J35 Draken, Kfir C7, Mirage III/V

For me, between this free period (now ended on Steam) and the 2 days free some weeks ago, I have purchased the F-18, the supercarrier and all the 4 helicopters.

I sure wouldn't have bought all those modules in a row if I hadn't had a chance to try them out first. So this is a very welcome trade move from ED and third parties. It is a win-win for everyone!.

Proof of that is that I was not sure about the Heatblur F-14 and, as I couldn't tested it propertly during the 2 days free period, I haven't buy it and choose other products instead.

The fact of having some days to test the module ensure you that you will not have software/hardware issues, low FPS in VR, and that the aircraft meets you expectations. The trailers are awesome, but many times they doesn't match the user experience.

For clients, like me, who are able to overcome the "hype" created during the launch of a module, this is one way to get our attention. So, well done ED, keep it that way!

As a DCS newbie, I just want to say "thanks", because I probably would not have started without the free tryout of the World and F-16. I didn't think my system would handle it, but it does OK for now. Now with a few hours of flight time in the Viper, I'm looking forward to adding some other terrains and aircraft modules. Thanks DCS!
