FADEC Posted May 15, 2020 Posted May 15, 2020 Just set up a new system with a HP Rebverb and think I am having some issues. I had saved and watched tons of youtube videos and form posts to aid me in setting everything up. WMR doesn't seem to be the issue, but Steam VR for WMR settings menu is totally different than all of the videos, and form posts I have seen. Picture and performance seem good to me, biggest complaint is eye discomfort after flying for about 20-30 min. If anyone could point me to some more updated posts/videos that would be great!
Motomouse Posted May 15, 2020 Posted May 15, 2020 Are you running the Reverb at 90hz or 60hz? 60hz are bugged right now (distortion bug could lead to eye discomfort, next windows release fixes this) VIC-20@1.108 MHz, onboard GPU, 5KB RAM, μυωπία goggles, Competition Pro HOTAS
FADEC Posted May 15, 2020 Author Posted May 15, 2020 Running at 90HZ, most of confusion comes from the lack of setting options in steam VR.
Motomouse Posted May 16, 2020 Posted May 16, 2020 Right now I am running 0.8 PD in DCS and 150% (advanced) Supersampling in SteamVR with low settings and no Antialiasing most of the time. With these low fidelity settings I enjoy better FPS. (If I want good looks in single player I go with 0.8 PD and 300% Supersampling. But with these settings you get low FPS in multiplayer and complex missions.) VR needs some time to get adjusted to. 30 minutes in the beginning is ok. Nowadays I enjoy multiple hours without any discomfort. VIC-20@1.108 MHz, onboard GPU, 5KB RAM, μυωπία goggles, Competition Pro HOTAS
whitav8 Posted May 16, 2020 Posted May 16, 2020 What version of Steam VR are you running - I have 1.11.11 Have you adjusted IPD - maybe that is your discomfort - some say the only adjustment (which is on the settings page (Headset Display->Calibration ) in Windows 10 WMR Portal ) doesn't do much. There is some sort of IPD adjustment in DCS PC HW 9700K@5.0Ghz Win 10 (Build 2004 ) with WMR VR - Reverb RTX2070 with Nvidia 451.48 DCS 2.5.6 (latest)
Taz1004 Posted May 16, 2020 Posted May 16, 2020 (edited) Also try Night Mode in SteamVR setting. This has no effect on performance but will cut some blue lights that cause eye fatigue. At first, everything will seem too warm and dark but it'll look fine after few minutes once your eyes and brain adjusts to it. Plus, everything's supposed to be warm in sunlight. If it seems too dark, compensate with in game gamma. And make sure the headset is on properly and not on too tight. This is more important than many thinks. I'd also recommend VR cover. It not only makes it cleaner, it's thinner than factory foam so you get better FOV. If you want to see what the difference is, take the foam off and play. It'll hurt your face but you can see the difference in FOV. Thinner foam pad definitely helps a ton in view angle.
