SSLR - does it really matters?

Is there a noticeable difference in image quality when using SSLR?

I have no idea where it's being applied. I don't see any difference in image quality. It'd be cool if they apply it on MFD screens so it reflects the environment.

I think most on water

To my knowledge it's mostly on water (hence the problem with wakes that people were having) and in some cases own aircraft reflections (some people can see insignia and roundels dynamically reflected).

 

Where it would maybe be better utilised (if it wasn't such a performance hog) is in cockpits replacing baked on reflections (especially the particularly bad ones like in the L-39 rear seat).

I think in the supercarrier is going to have some importance to render reflections on the wet deck.
