try here. www.chproducts.com . Some speacialty Computer stores in Canada may carry CH products but they are going to be hard to find. Saitek X52 has served me well since it came out and I have had no problems with it. Ch products are the Caddy of flight sim products and carry the price tag also but you get what you pay for. Cougar run as fast as you can in the opposite direction.Cheers.

hey there , you are on this rock also . cool stuff .

i can get the saitek x52 at avalon software in st johns for $169.00 plus tax .

i have had this old cybourg for 3 years , without a problem .

as you said , speical computer stores , in canada are hard to find .

i may end up going to avalon software and picking up that x52 . you seem pleased .

by the way , we are here in bay de verde .

nice to see a fellow nfld-er here .

cheers .

Absolute Drivel/Rubbish!

I've been flying with a Stock Cougar for a year now and there's NOTHING wrong with it.

So..............................rather than Bash the Product, I really would have hoped that people confine comments to substantiated constructive critisism and /or commentary - that way the original poster can weigh up all the pros and cons, bearing in mind the subjectivity thereof, and proceed from there.

Contrary to popular belief, having people pan the product will probably not help either way................

In any event, if interested, for more info on the Cougar head over to Cougar World.

Tried all The F16 stick which is great for F16 and the rest well sorry man but it is not good feeling at all with the mod with more cash it could be the best so far but sorry to offend you and The Cougar is bad from stock period.. or maybe i should say that it is not at all of my liking..

Now did you see how much he want to spend? not much so THINK.. a more nimble stick with pedals and a used throttle would do him much more good than just one expensive stick that he would have to mod

Same with the CH Throttle is the worse of all 3 to me something about feeling and missing the rotary dials that i think they should be very important on a throttle, you will find Cougar throttle "very Good" followed by a less precise X45, X52 (X52 has too small/flat rotary nobs ) The X52 can be plugged with out the X52 stick unlike the X45.

Live in Gander here. Ya the saitek x52 is great. Dont know about the Pro model other than it is very much the same. I would stay with the X52 if I had to replace it. If you don't like all the little lites on , you can turn them off and leave the main MFD. That is what I do.Some like the lites on. If you get it give me a PM, I will tell you how to tighten the joystick if you don't like it's response. Personally I use mine as is but this little 50 cent tip is great.Cheers .

Why then do most Cougar owners complain about broken parts even out of the box. A special forum and spot to get parts that should never break. Don't chew us out, we get our info from Cougar owners. I guess you must be in the 1% bracket.

Joystick upgrade (Saitek Pro) ?

I too have been thinking of upgrading my old joystick (Logitek Extreme) to a Saitek PRO. Does anyone have any direct knowledge of the duribility of this set ? I have seen comment both good and bad.

Why then do most Cougar owners complain about broken parts even out of the box...

Sorry but this is a large exageration. There is very smal minority of people claminig to have broken parts out of the box. In fact broken parts out of the box can mean one thing... mishandling while in transit.

The reason why some people GET broken parts can vary... some need little tinkering about, like fixing missalignments on the 3 way switch on throttle... but that's about it. The mini switches can break on ANY stick at any time... and they do. I read plenty of people saying CH or Saitek gear having mulfunctions and broken parts as well.

And let me add to anyone claiming that Cougar NEEDS modding, is not really true. The stick is very usable out of the box. Now to finish of with my post, most people DO mod it and the main reason is that people who want and can afford lot of money for a HOTAS such as Cougar want perfection out of it, and yes stock Cougar is not perfect otherwise it would cost lot more then what it costs now. This is where you get people coming up with ways to get Cougar where is really belongs... different mods and again, if you have the money for it and have the high interest (foremost) I believe it is worth it. I have had mine since they first got released and I am very (let me repeat) very happy with it. My Cougar is moded though with IJ's NXT gimbal mod, and to be frank, the only other part I ever replaced was throttle potentiometer because it started spiking after 1-2 years... and that's about it.

What it most comes down to when it comes to Cougar is people personal prefferences. Obejctivity is hard to fins these days when someone asks for advice on products.

All I gotta say is CH CH CH CH CH CH CH CH CH CH CH CH CH!

I had a x52 pro (in other words, Saitek's flagship stick). It was an excellent stick in terms of feel and SST software ability, it just wasn't very reliable. I switched to a CH Fighterstick and Pro Throttle and I'm not looking back.

I bought mine here:

http://www.provantage.com/ch~110CHPU.htm

Buying the stick and throttle from there will save you about $100 from buying directly from CH.

lol X52 works for me , the Ch stuff Can cost a bit, Like the same price as a cougar, the throttle alone is the same price as my X52

STT Radar issue is leftover code.

Well,i have to jump in here. The fact is that no product out of a box should have to be fixed/realigned like the cougar.I am a cougar owner (along with about 4 other sticks) and i can tell you that my cougar is holding my door open at this moment because i really dont feel like fixing the thing,i might get around to it when i have a few days. Now the cougar's metal build is really nice i must say,and if i didnt have to take the thing apart to fix the speed brake(which didnt work anyway after i tried to fix it) or the antenna knob(which is depressed and need to be taken apart) i might use it.Now i,personally, use a ms sidewinder 2,its a great stick and for flying formation it's the best for me,i then use the throttle off a x36 for combat(seldom if any fly that)..i also have a sfs suncom which i plan on converting the throttle to usb..But my point is that cougar has alot of problems that it shouldnt have in the first place and if your as picky as i am for regular flying, let alone formation, then i wouldnt buy a cougar,i would go with CH (although i hate the throttle) or better yet a x52 pro or something along those lines.Cost effective and the customer service cant be any worse then thrustmasters. My 2 cents.

Yes Cougar is not nice, but I don't trust it so I bought a x52 pro with pedals.

Wrong again. No need to mod. Touch a Cougar, you will no doubt buy one. Stock Cougars are far less trouble then most CH owners would have you believe. The difference is astounding. Touch it BEFORE you decide. Then it won't matter what you hear about CH. You will buy a Cougar.

The CH camp has an exagerated arguement against the Cougar because it can have issues like any other HOTAS and some that are uniqiue to the Cougar as well, but it is not 1/4 as bad as you may hear it is.

With a small amount of care and maintenance your STOCK Cougar can last a very very long time. (As long as any other HOTAS including CH).

If you decide to Mod the stick there is everything from no/low cost mods to very expensive last a lifetime for you and your grandkids mods.

IMHO The Cougar gets a bad rap from a small but loud crowd of CH users.

Touch it! I speak from the experience of owning/caring for at least a dozen Cougars, stock, home modded, and pro-modded. They are ergonomically beautiful, impressively tactile,

all metal, even the Hats and buttons. there are other advantages as well. Arcing throttle, 2 analog rotaries on the throttle, advanced programming, All metal and it feels far more real then any other HOTAS out there. Touch it! Then tell us what you think. Also you can get the Cougar at the link posted above. It is also less expensive then the CH at provantage. Total cost of CH pro and Pro throttle-$212.49 shipped. Cost for Cougar-$201.15 https://www.provantage.com/scripts/cart.dll/x/0/review

Well we just heard from a Cougar owner. Not to happy.:megalol::joystick:

I think you are a Cougar fan to the core so regardless what anyone points out you will disagree, which is your right. Yes I totally agree as will most, it feels great, but I don't buy something like this just because it feels great. If we all bought a Cougar because it feels great, there would be a lot of door stops around.:joystick:

I think you are a CH fan to the core so regardless what anyone points out you will disagree. Yes I totally agree as will most, the CH doesn't feel great, and I don't buy something like this just because it doesn't feel great. I also don't buy it because I have EXTENSIVE experience witht the Cougar and actually KNOW the reality of owning and using them in every respect. Do you?

Do you think I can not find CH owners who have had a bad experiences. This is what I call selective evidence, it is useless. And people like you insinuating that the stick will fall apart is ridiculous and why I must continue to post. Door stop indeed.

When you have held and configured and worked with as many Cougars as I have perhaps you can then say you have an accurate picture. I know both the Cougar and the CH. The strengths and weaknesses of both and I would still choose a stock Cougar over the CH any day of the week as would many others were it not for the exagerated rants. I am sure if you shout this crap long enough you will turn people away from it but you better do it before they touch it.

And if anyone is thinking about purchasing the Cougar and you happen to be worried that your Cougar will arrive in the box broken or that it will fall apart in your hands think again. It is every bit as fine a HOTAS as a CH and in many respects far better. Modded or not! In fact if you decide to mod the Cougar the CH is immediatley junk by comparison. It is only competition at all when unmodded.
