dmatt76 Posted June 5, 2020 Posted June 5, 2020 (edited) Seems like ED forgot about quite important tutorial... It is changed completely, Point track on high contrast object does not lock the target, only lock the reticle in place in area and point track - reticle can't be moved or corrected like before. and TDC depress turns on additional little crosshair which is slewable but does nothing... Thallios Posted June 5, 2020 Posted June 5, 2020 I agree, a comprehensive TPod tutorial with all modes is required and what the Tpod will do if you switch modes
dmatt76 Posted June 5, 2020 Author Posted June 5, 2020 AFter many tries I managed to make it work but only in FLIR Black Hot - no other way although contrast was very clear in CCD and whitehot.
CrazyGman Posted June 6, 2020 Posted June 6, 2020 it does work yeah I'm not sure what the new reticle does, but the point track will lock on in both modes, you just have to be close enough like before, however you know kinda have to guess when your in range as it's stays in place as you say except for that cross, instead you have to constantly now undesignated and continue again trying to lock it.
KLaFaille Posted June 6, 2020 Posted June 6, 2020 The crosshair that is slewable is an offset. You can slew that anywhere on the screen and when you press the SCS to cycle out of point track the tpod will snap to where the cross was.

Lots of confusion since the most recent update, even with Wags’ video. I appreciate the info! QuiGon Posted June 6, 2020 Posted June 6, 2020 Yeah, ED really need to step up their game in regards to documentation. The Early Access Guides lack behind way too much! Intel i7-12700K @ 8x5GHz+4x3.8GHz + 32 GB DDR5 RAM + Nvidia Geforce RTX 2080 (8 GB VRAM) + M.2 SSD + Windows 10 64Bit DCS Panavia Tornado (IDS) really needs to be a thing!
Captain Orso Posted June 6, 2020 Posted June 6, 2020 Do I understand this correctly? On the one hand Wags says the purpose of the offset is to put the cross on a different target without returning to SP (SnowPlow) mode. On the other hand, there is no need to return to SP mode to slew the target carrot, you just slew it. To create the cross you TDC-Depress. The cross is created over the current target, which you can then slew with the TDC-Slew. If you like the new target (offset-cross) TCS-Depress again turns the offset-cross into the new target. If you wish to use the previously designated target, SCS-Right will delete the offset. Cycle to the mode you wish and carry on. So the only purpose of the offset is to start to designate a new target while maintaining the previous target and being able to return to it by deleting the offset. Am I missing anything? Dear dmatt, We are still refining moving target track. The CCD track range is rather too short and the HUD indication is not tracking correctly. Once we are satisfied with it, I'll be happy to create a video about it. In the meantime, simply slew the stabilized cross hairs in front of the target and double-click the SCS in the direction of the FLIR DDI to go to a no-action point track. Currently about 6 nm for CCD and 12 for FLIR. Kind regards, Matt Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/user/wagmatt Twitch: wagmatt System: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=3729544#post3729544
