Hello All,

 

This is Sabertooth from Virtualnavairops. I just wanted to stop in and share some pictures here that have been posted on a few other fourms. You all may remeber this as the model that Viper was working on about a year ago. Actually at that time I had purchased the model from meshfactory and sent him the files as he said he was going to be doing the work on it to get it into lockon. Well a year later the model had still not been fully worked into game. I sought after some help from a modeler and asked Racer if he would help me get the model into Lockon. He gratiously excepted the project and is now currently working on it. Will try to keep this updated as much as possible and leave this open as well for Racer to post updated pictures of the Work In Progress pictures. And I leave you with a few pics that Racer has posted so far. (Also, after the purchase of the model I explained to meshfactory about the intentions I had this model, and the granted permssion to use the model for Lockon.) I got a 27K version of the Super Hornet available, and let MadMaxter know anyways... least when the transition happens... but that looks great :thumbup:

Sir Trooper, yes the plan is to release it to the community after we get it from Racer and skin it. Not sure of a time of release as when Racer took upon the project he was also working on a T-38 Talon and a few others. Eric J, Max mentioned something to me about that. :thumbup:

Yeah... but the one I sent him was like 150K polys.... and this one has been chopped down, but not as jacked up as a previous version, so if interested, I can send it over sometime.

Excellent job getting it in game.

Will be interetsting to see how Racer does the swept wing animation as we've discussed this already for something I'm working on.

I've already tried something like that, and if you place the wing animation on the flaps argument, then if you hit F key, the wing swept will be automatic, so it's possible to make the flaps too.

Rogue Blade, it is our intention to have the F-14D Tomcat a carrier capable aircraft. Due to the limitations of Lockon we have to model over the Su-33.

Good news Sabertooth, I'm glad someone 'capable' took over the Turkey, and won't dissapear this beautiful model. Hopefully the same will happen to EricJ's Super Bug!

I was thinking more the refueling animation (thanks Racer), I don't want flaps out when the wings sweep forward (on my model).

I just quickly made a lil jet, or prop? dunno, it's a freak, but here it is:

Here is my lil freak with open wings, but without flaps! All placed in one animation. So if you make the wings animation to the flaps, and if you made the animation, you must place this flap animation to the really end of the animation. sry my english isn't the best, but maybe if i upload the model. If you fly fast, the wings will close, if you fly slow, the wings will open, and if you fly very slow, the flaps will open, but hit the F key before anything. (There's a bug, in one of the wings, but this is just a fast work)

the .max model works with 3ds max 7.

Flaps and slats are Flaps and slats. In a real F-14, the flaps arn't the wing sweep like people have it modelled as in sims. The pilot controls the variable wing sweep system...its not automatic and doesn't work with the flaps.

 

The F-14's wing sweep can be varied between 20° and 68° in flight. On deck or ground, the Cat has an "Over-sweep Mode" that bring the wings to 75°.

Not true. The Tomcat's wing sweep is controlled by a mach sweep programmer (aka central air-data computer), which sweeps the wings as the jet accelerates. I am not exactly sure at what speed the wings go into full sweep, but I do know it is near mach 1. However, the pilot can override the MSP and sweep the wings as he pleases if the situation calls for such a thing.

Hey everyone,

 

I have just a few more days till I am completed on my current project and I will be hitting the F-14D hard.

 

Those are some nice suggestions for the wing sweep aurg's. :smartass:

 

I will keep up to date posts coming this way as we move along towards completion of the project.
