Happy Friday everyone. Although, every day is the weekend when you're retired.

Thanks, Beldin, I was not aware of that line item. I was aware of it but didn't know the meaning of it. I will test it out to see how well it works. Beldin, you always have some inside DCS information. Good to know info. I will make that edit in future mods as well Eddie. Well, i need to test it first to see what distance works best.

Great photos everyone. I worked those ships once in Japan. They handle pretty well. Powerful engines.

I am finishing up the Bergamini FREMM Class Frigate textures. I think I've gotten the hang of Substance Painter texturing. As mentioned I'm keeping the textures simple because I have too many mods to work on. Next is the weapon animation and coding. It's been slow because of aches and pains but I keep it moving as much as I can.

I tested the ship distance code using 160 feet apart and below is the result. The USS Oak Hill altered course shortly but formed back up. Thanks, Beldin.

I forgot to mention during Underway replenishment we used a Phone and Distance line. Where you would have someone on each ship communicating with each other. A photo of the PD line is below. There's Sailors holding that line during the entire UNREP operation.

GT.distFindObstacles = 160

Stuff looks great👍. Testing has gone well with my "Cold War" update. Many thanks to roobarbjapan and RichCotte and any others that have helped out. Really looking forward to the model updates but I've been having a blast with the old ones 🙂. All ships have received radar and weapons updates based on Admiral's and Currenthill's excellent work. New SAM types covering the 1960s through the mid 90s and most guns have been made dual purpose (air/surface) if they were not already.

If you'd like to help with the final round of tests PM.

And once again, many thanks to the Admiral for all the great past and future content

Thanks, McFly29, Oh, I know when to quit. The 3d models and DCS aren't going anywhere. At the moment I work at my own pace. No Stress. Thanks for looking out for my well-being. With regard to the Type42. I know of someone that's creating the Type42. Not sure if they will release it or not. I reached out to them and asked about it. One reason why I don't bother creating it.

Nice, find Hawkeye. Perfect timing to release the mods.

Eddie, after creating the Ferry mod. I said to myself it would be nice to go for a cruise on one of them. At some point I will have to take the family out on a cruise. Great job on the Liveries. That's why they call you the livery king.  I have another Ferry that would be great for DCS if we could drive vehicles on and off of it. Waiting for the coding on that. That feature will change the way we operate in DCS.

Speaking of Landings. Here's another great video for you all to watch. Listen to the power of the LCAC. Becoming an LCAC operator in the USN is challenging but can be done.

RIMPAC is always a fun time to be in Hawaii.  Pearl JAM PACKED with Allied Vessels of all types before and after the exercise.

Just exclude your download folder in your AV, then they will. Also they might still be downloaded but moved, after downloading, to your quarentine folder. Your AV scans the downloaded files, not the links, so they are on your pc.

Hey Crud, RIMPAC is a great opportunity to work with ships from other nations but don't get caught out during morning or evening colors. Every country represented does colors every morning and evening and if you caught out on base. You have to stand at attention on base until there all finished.

Thanks, RWC. Yes, Sebfoo I think your AV is very sensitive to downloading from the web. The mods are safe for download. PM me if you're still having issues downloading the mods.

Hey Lukafred, it's good to hear you want to start creating 3d models. Unfortunately, there's no official guide. ED has a couple guides but they just show you how to setup 3ds max for modeling. 90% of what I learned was on my own and the other 10% was a few people showing me exactly how to create the mods for DCS. I learned 3DS max on my own and watched videos on YouTube and advice from others.

My first recommendation is to learn how to use the Software to create the mods. Blender and 3ds Max are the top two applications used to create mods for DCS i think. If you understand how to use the software already then the first thing would be to learn how to create and texture a simple mod and import it into DCS. it can be anything.  You can import a mod of a goat or just square box. Anything. I can create a sample DCS Mod file if you like. All you have to do is change the name of the mod. Once you learn to import the mods then you can learn to animate the file. I will create a sample file over the next few days and share it here with everyone in case someone else wants to learn.

**ITALIAN MOD UPDATE** - Both are successfully gunning down targets in DCS. I'm still working on the FREMM mod. I will be working on the Missiles this week.  One thing I've learned about using Substance Painter is the mod may look great in SP but it may look different in 3DS Max and in DCS. So it requires going back and forth until you get it right. So it's a bit more work but it's all about learning to texture mods in Substance Painter.

I think I mentioned it already. There will be three versions of the FREMM Frigate. Two Italian versions one with a different bow gun and an Egyptian version. What you see

To save time I will create the Andrea Doria and the Forbin together afterward because they are very similar mods. I may release them with the Cavour. Not sure yet. We'll see how it goes. So still work to do. Stay Tuned! Thanks.

**** BROKEN MODS DUE TO RECENT ED UPDATE ****

Good Evening everyone. ED's Latest update has broken a few CH and my mods. CH is working hard to solve this issue. I just noticed it yesterday. I did more testing today only to find that at least four of my mod-declared missile scripts are broken. The LCS Class USS Independence missiles are broken as well but it hasn't been released yet.

When the missile launches they fly all over the place and into the water. It appears to be certain declared missiles though. There's always something. Always.

The mods that are broken are Admiral Ushakov, the USS Constellation, FREMM Class Frigate which hasn't been released yet, and the USS Oak Hill. So far these are the only mods that I've tested.   ---- With all that said I will not release any new mods until this issue has been resolved.  I will however release the Comandanti Class Frigate as it doesn't have any missile launchers.

Just another day in the office. I'm off to work trying to resolve the known issues. Just wanted to keep you all updated. Thanks.

That schema change to missiles really did in a lot of mod creators.

I was hoping the last update would be good that did not come to pass.

To my knowledge, Currenthill is the only person who has cracked the code with SAMs acting crazy and ruining all the thrust-vectoring missiles after the F-4 Phantom update; he hasn't yet been able to address the messed-up ballistic missiles but that's beside the point.  For now, though, for those who know little about computer programming, all we can do is offer our support and continue to do so.

Morning everyone. Yes, HM CH is working on the issue. I think he's releasing fixes gradually because he had a lot of mods affected by this issue.

One of the missiles I declared was the RIM-116 which was affected. I've since reverted back to EDs RIM-116 for the moment until this issue is resolved. There's always a workaround for some missiles.

Keep in mind we declared the missiles so it's up to us to find a fix. Not ED. No difference from when I was working in IT. 95% of the time you have to resolve the issues because those around you don't know the answer. ED is aware. I'll leave it at that. Aware.

FYI...

Doing some light research on the Internet, I found out the purpose of Frigates in the US Navy and their predecessors, Destroyer Escorts.  I think I have it mostly correct.

So, Frigates, like the Knox class, would generally not escort Carrier Battlegroups, it appears.  For those of you who served on these ships, does that sound correct?  The Perry's may be exceptions?

-----------

Destroyer Escort (DE) was the United States Navy mid-20th-century classification for a 20-knot (37 km/h; 23 mph) warship designed with the endurance necessary to escort mid-ocean convoys of merchant marine ships.  Also used to escort Amphibious Task Forces and replenishment groups.  Generally, not fast enough for fleet carrier task forces, cruisers and fast battleships at 32-33 knots.  They did escort the Escort Carriers (CVEs), which were not fleet carriers and only capable of about 19 knots.

US Navy destroyer escort classes - all with depth charge racks and/or K-gun projectors - WWII classes w/ 20mm & 40mm AA mounts
Class name    Propulsion        Guns       ASW         Torpedoes   Lead Ship    Commissioned  #Ships  Speed

Frigates - From 1975-onward (no depth charges)
Frigates fulfill a Protection of Shipping (POS) mission as anti-submarine warfare (ASW) combatants for amphibious expeditionary forces, underway replenishment groups and merchant convoys.  Frigates replaced Destroyer Escorts and were generally not fast enough for carrier battlegroups.  Ships commissioned before 1975 were redesignated FF or FFG in 1975.

Garcia        geared turbine    2 × 5in/38 ASROC  6 × 13in   (DE-1040)     1967-90          10   27 kts
Brooke        geared turbine    1 × 5in/38 ASROC  6 x 13in   (DEG-1)       1966-89          6    27 kts - RIM66 Guided Missile launcher
Knox          geared turbine    1 x 5in/54 ASROC  6 x 13in   (DE-1052)     1969-94          46   27 kts - Sea Sparrow(later Phalanx) & Harpoon
Oliver H Perry  gas turbines    1 x 3in/62 ASROC  6 x 13in   (FFG-7)       1977-2015        71   30 kts - RIM66 that could also launch ASROC

Hey Andrew that is correct. I assume the destroyers back then weren't able to track submarines but the Frigates could. When I was stationed onboard the USS Bowen FF-1079. I don't remember us escorting any destroyers. Most of the destroyers were always part of a Carrier Strike Group. But this was from 1986 - forward when I entered the US Navy.

I read something about the DEs, in WWII, could turn faster than destroyers.  I don't know if that was the same with the FFs from 1975 on (the Bronstein's and later).  I guess it was just the economy of smaller size, lesser machinery and armaments, except for ASW armaments.  Just what was needed to keep pace with the slower ships, which "shouldn't" be engaging surface forces.  I believe the DD's could always detect and track subs as well as the DE's and FF's.  DE's were probably never expected to face off with cruisers and battleships.  Yet, they had to at the Battle off Samar in 1944.  At 19 knots, those CVE's and DE's couldn't run away from the fast battleship group attacking them.  They had some fast DD Fletcher's with them, too.  But they needed New Jersey!!   Thanks for the ships you make for DCS, BTW! ...and for your service in the US Navy! 👍  Did USS Bowen ever form part of a carrier strike group?  I mean, I'm guessing not, if I understand the purpose of the frigates and destroyer escorts.  But I don't know other than what I read.

Type 42'...there's 3 different batches, the model I have is a Batch 3 which is considerably longer than the Falklands war Batch's .. It still needs a bit of work, no promises, but will see if I can get one out for release in this quarter.

This is the best news I have heard in a long time. How is she coming along, do you have any more WIP shots ?

Thanks Penquin625. Yep, I found out yesterday about the HMS Richmond, HMS Duncan and also the French Frigate Normandie. I corrected the USS Oak Hill, and USS Constellation RIM-116 missile files yesterday. Admiral Ushakov's missiles are jacked also.

Here's my plan. I don't want to release any new ship mods with missiles until after EDs June 26th Update. I just feel the new Update may corrupt the existing missile fixes but we'll see.

It should include the CH-47, possibly the Afghan Map, and possibly the new troops as well. I have my eyes on the Super Carrier update which comes with the ability to steer the ships. I inquired for more information on the Carrier features but haven't heard back. May just have to wait until its relieased.

Today I will continue updating the declared broken missile files on the AI Ship mods. Stay Tuned. Thanks for your patience.

Thanks, it sucks that the updates broke yours and currenthill ship missiles, the games just aren't the same for me without your guys ships, allthough I'm a huge fan of naval stuff even though its a flight game.

I love your HMS Richmond, seeing the ships in sim that I can see in real life in my country's port is awesome, even though we don't compare really to American, Chinese or Russian ships which all look cooler, except the Type 45 destroyer which looks cool with the spiky egg radar on top lol.

That's awesome, one of my favourite ships. While the batch 3 was a bit too late for the Falklands campaign, she will still fit in nicely in that region as well as 90`s Persian Gulf and cold war Kola scenarios.

Who can share LUA Los-Angeles 688I, I had a file with a well-functioning weapon for a long time (Tomahawk and Harpoon, Tomahawk launcher covers could open before launching them), and now they don't even launch missiles, I've been trying to set up for a day and nothing. The screw does not turn, the antennas do not come out

No, I don't need anything, I need help.:make the propeller rotate, make retractable antennas (if any), set up to launch one BGM109, put Harpoons in torpedo tubes like torpedoes. It's just nothing to do.And also the waves from the boat-to fix or even remove.      Opens 2 lids:is it because the ammunition is divided into 2 parts?nullnull

Thanks so much Ryan. Were doing what we love. Thankfully, we have a platform where we can showcase our work. Are there going be problems. Sure, put we resolve them and keep it moving. As long as I'm able i will keep creating them for you all.

Ivan-Iavnov-1902. Please PM me for assistance. Thanks.

*** Italian Mod Project is back up on ***

At the moment I'm bringing the FREMM Frigate up to speed. Thanks to the hard work of CH getting the missile scripts back up to speed. I also want to thank Beldin for his assistance with ship modding. He has been a big help.

As mentioned I will not release any mods until after the June 26th ED update. Thank you all for your patience.
