I posted it in the mission editor subforum over a month ago, but as it doesn't seem to gain any traction there I'll post it here again:

The Syrian Air Force is flying the Su-22, an export variant of the Soviet Su-17. The Su-17 is included in DCS as an AI aircraft, but not available for the country of Syria.

Can the AI Su-17 be made available for Syria please?

Actually every plane should be available for every country.. let the Mission maker be accurate or not.... GEEZ

I like the country restrictions (if they would be accurate). Makes it easier to see what country uses what and further prevents fantasy missions.

Yeah, having every aircraft available to every country kinda defeats the practical reason of having countries in the first place, might as well just have red and blue and leave it at that.

Which is exactly what ED provided us with in yesterdays update:

ME. Combined Joint Task Forces Red, Combined Joint Task Forces Blue, United Nations Peacekeepers - added as new countries

So if we could get back to topic: ED, please add the Su-17 to Syria (as well as the L-39 and the Mi-8).

I used USAF Agressor country since it has every piece of equipement available. I know is just a partial solution but I hope it can help until this is corrected by Ed.

Yeah, I'm using Russia as a substitute right now, but it's not the same as having actual Syrian units.

I support the proposal (add old models to new countries) so...

▲ Let me summarize this by a quick cut (toward to ED programmers)

Easiest way would be a single (or forced-new) line to privilege the line countries = {} in the skin/livery description.lua (to come over the restriction of db_countries.lua)

x4mpl: Bazar\Liveries\su-17m4\shap limanskoye ab|\description.lua

livery = {

}

name = "shap limanskoye ab"

name_ru = "АБ Лиманское (827-й ОРАП)"

id = 2

countries = { "UKR", "IRQ", "YEM", "SYR" }

or as a new lua command in description.lua skin-files:

new_countries = { "IRQ", "YEM", "SYR" }

There is two problesm with that solution:

1 - Every update repalces your moddificated fle with teh standard one.

2 - Integrity check for MP enviroment.

I have the same problem wit taking off form Ground for every plane. its a two line change in a LUA file, but liek I said, 1 Upadates, 2 IC in MP.. now if ED odes it, then teh two problems go away...
