X-man Posted April 3, 2008 Posted April 3, 2008 When flying on public Hyperlobby servers, do you read the Mission Briefing?? I just wanna know if I should even bother when creating my missions for our dedicated... :P 64th Aggressor Squadron Discord: 64th Aggressor Squadron TS: 135.181.115.54
Aeroscout Posted April 3, 2008 Posted April 3, 2008 I do once, but unless the mission changes I usually don't bother. (just more of the same stuff) I always read it for the servers' rules 1 DCS Wishlist: 1) FIX THE DAMN RIVERS!!! 2) Spherical or cylindrical panorama view projection. 3) Enhanced input options (action upon button release, etc). 4) Aircraft flight parameter dump upon exit (stick posn, attitude, rates, accel, control volume, control-surface positions, SAS bias, etc). 5) ADS-33 maneuver courses as static objects. 6) Exposed API or exports of trim position and stick force for custom controllers. 7) Select auto multiple audio devices
Pilotasso Posted April 4, 2008 Posted April 4, 2008 LOL  I think writing 15 or so lines is definatly necessary, you always have a legal leg to make a stand for your rules, or else they will do what they want and claim there was nothing writen even though they dont care to read it. Its Human nature. :) 1 .
RvETito Posted April 4, 2008 Posted April 4, 2008 I read it always intentionaly looking for objectives. If I see a briefing saying only "KILL'EM ALL!" I usualy quit such server. 1 "See, to me that's a stupid instrument. It tells what your angle of attack is. If you don't know you shouldn't be flying." - Chuck Yeager, from the back seat of F-15D at age 89. =RvE=
cool_t Posted April 4, 2008 Posted April 4, 2008 Yep, 99.9999999% of the time. I also look at the map so I can see where my F-15 can do the most damage to those pesky bandits! :joystick:
S77th-GOYA Posted April 4, 2008 Posted April 4, 2008 I got out of the habit of it. Too many times I've looked for the briefing and there hasn't been anything of value there. But please take that to mean that there SHOULD be a briefing.
Cornbread Posted April 4, 2008 Posted April 4, 2008 Yes, I do. Make sure to tell peeps not to take off on the dang taxiways, to approach from the right direction when landing, yadda yadda. 1 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
graywo1fg Posted April 4, 2008 Posted April 4, 2008 usually i do but lately i haven't then i feel stupid because i have no idea where i am taking off from and what to do LOL and then i go.... "SHOULD have read the briefing" LOL.... so yes i intend to..... :P Voice of Jester AI Death From Above =DFA= Squadron Discord - https://discord.gg/deathfromabove http://www.twitch.tv/graywo1f https://www.youtube.com/user/Lonewo1fg
Breakshot Posted April 4, 2008 Posted April 4, 2008 Def a must to read them... Also, a good map check to go with it not only can save one's ass but even work as an advantage when in sticky situations... Those who dont read the briefing are usually the first to be shot down by flying into nomans land, or they just get lost and consequently start to spam the chat for directions... and no, being a newbie isnt an exuse in this particular case either, i guess its all about flight discipline really... This just as well applies for example to those who start taking off from taxiways, when the server rules (written in the brief) strictly prohibit that... Ironic as it is, but I noticed many so called 'veterans' who say they've read the brief do exactly that and couldnt care less... My own opinion at least on this case is that many ppl tend to play this game just for the thrill of the quick kills, looking to create an airquake while missing the whole point of it entirely... and to be honest, in that situation who needs the brief anyway right? The fight is gonna look like a mad furball fest anyhow... 1 Tim "Breakshot" Mytrofanov | C.O. of 51 ПВО / 100 КИАП Regiments | twitch.tv/51breakshot
Boberro Posted April 4, 2008 Posted April 4, 2008 I very rare read briefings. It is booooring, but on unknown servers I try to read it. Reminder: Fighter pilots make movies. Bomber pilots make... HISTORY! :D | Also to be remembered: FRENCH TANKS HAVE ONE GEAR FORWARD AND FIVE BACKWARD :D ಠ_ಠ ツ
VMFA117_Poko Posted April 4, 2008 Posted April 4, 2008 Yes, I do. Almost always. Almost because sometime I know mission by my heart. There is need to read it. You must plan Your mission, know where are danger zones, where You are safe, where are backdoors, etc.

Ironic as it is, but I noticed many so called 'veterans' who say they've read the brief do exactly that and couldnt care less... quote] Couldn't agree more,:thumbup:but I will say that the majority of Guys that take off from the taxi way, would stop if the server were properly policed, and I am not sure how to do that, and I suspect thats just fancifull thinking on my behalf:(, all I can say is it kinda does spoil it for me when some guy takes off from the runway, also I might add the the "take off/landing" area as well is "shocking" to say the least, and I for one will not try to avoid any aircraft that just "Parks" on the runwayto fuel up, or thinks the line down the run way is a "Im taking off from this half" line.
