Eldur Posted October 11, 2020 Posted October 11, 2020 My attempt to get a better angle for checking six would be to have something like a snap view that turns your virtual head by let's say 60° in either direction (2 separate keybinds). When that happens instantly or with a very short fade-out-fade-in effect (as in HL:A blink teleport locomotion), it wouldn't cause motion sickness. From there on you could naturally turn around enough to see everything within reasonable limits. It's kinda like taking a snap turn with the right thumbstick and actually turning as well in a VR game, which does work quite well if you want to have a quick peek at something behind you. Haven't tried the DCS snapviews for that yet, as I'm not sure if they work at all in VR. But we should never mess with that 1:1 head turn rate.
Taz1004 Posted October 11, 2020 Posted October 11, 2020 (edited) I just use look behind exterior view. Map it to primary HAT down. For A10, I move that camera closer to cockpit so it's more like looking back. imacken Posted October 11, 2020 Author Posted October 11, 2020 Guys, I didn’t mean this discussion to be about should we abandon 1:1, or nausea, or give up using VR and use TrackIR or VR zoom. I just wondered if there was a way to do this by editing a file or something else. I really don’t see why having this as AN OPTION should upset anyone. Use it if it suits, don’t use it if it doesn’t. Simple. speed-of-heat Posted October 11, 2020 Posted October 11, 2020 gotcha, AFAIK there is no user serviceable setting in WMR, SteamVR or DCS to impact Head rotation e.g. 1 degree of movement equals 1.1 degrees (insert arbitrary ratio) of effect. In theory it could be done per axis in any of the places i mentioned ... it might even be possible to do some dev and make it happen as a third party .. .but nothing in the can today SYSTEM SPECS: Hardware AMD 9800X3D, 64Gb RAM, 4090 FE, Virpil T50CM3 Throttle, WinWIng Orion 2 & F-16EX + MFG Crosswinds V2, Varjo Aero SOFTWARE: Microsoft Windows 11, VoiceAttack & VAICOM PRO YOUTUBE CHANNEL: @speed-of-heat
imacken Posted October 11, 2020 Author Posted October 11, 2020 I think it would be a really good option to have. Think I might post in the DCS Wishlist sub-forum. Maybe someone already has, not sure.
