Question for developers...Can you make a ingame option (for example in mission briefing before flight), for players to write down a list of waypoints, with altitudes, speed etc., so that when flying in cockpit, players can read waypoint details from kneepad?

That's a great idea me thinks!!!

Would be cool also if (for DCS:Apache ;) ) one could select a piece of the map prior to hitting "Fly" that would show up on the other kneeboard..

And a button that removes the pilot's glove: so you can read bleary writing on your wrist with the start up sequence!

(Just in case you didn't train yourself properly.)

Seriously though, I think you're idea about the kneepads is a great one. It could be a simple text file or a *.jpg

You mean so they can compare them with the comprehensive waypoint details displayed on the ABRIS?

You might want to watch that video again ...

Cheers.

With your next (or other) waypoint selected in ABRIS, hit "info" & get (My reading of the display):

ETA (estimated time of arrival),

ETE (estimated time error ?),

Fuel use to WP,

Fuel remaining,

Waypoint type,

waypoint name,

waypoint co-ordinates.

I have a vague memory that you can annotate waypoints with user defined info too.

Is that right ?

Cheers.

Why not have real paper on a real knee?

yeah, might be less work for the devs and more realistic to just write notes down on RL paper with a RL pen ?

I heartily agree with both of these.

You mean you guys don't fly with a fanny pack? I've got an extra map in there, some spearmint gum, and some granola bars. Never know when you might get shot over enemy territory.

JUST KIDDING :)

Don't forget the cyanid pills! :)

For me it is good idea, why not :)

Reminder: Fighter pilots make movies. Bomber pilots make... HISTORY! :D | Also to be remembered: FRENCH TANKS HAVE ONE GEAR FORWARD AND FIVE BACKWARD :D

It's funny--fannypacks are one of those types of things that seem completely practical and useful, but for some unknown, existential reason, have been marked by society as taboo (in the US at least). I noticed them in Europe alot more.

Can I get anymore off topic?

I like the idea of a knee map, in case I lose my ABRIS, and my INU. At that point though, I'm sure I'll be dialing in one of the presets on the ADF and RTB'ing.

ETE = Estimated Time Enroute (not 100% but pretty sure).

is the TOS ( time over steerpoint) displayed in the ka-50? It might be called something different in the ka-50, but I'm wondering if there is a russian equivalent.

(TOS is the time that you are scheduled to be at the waypoint)

Often it is very important to be at a specific place at a specific time to complete your objectives and TOS tells you whether or not you're on time.

Although I too think a kneeboard would be a cool addition, I haven't seen ED discuss this yet. Perhaps as we get closer to the A-10 and Apache, the subject will come up again.

For all practical purposes, the ABRIS does indeed provide all of the necessary information, including AFT (Actual Flight Time, i.e. time enroute), ETA for the current and following steerpoint and time off the current and following steerpoint. In addition, remember that you can always add custom points, lines and text to the ABRIS map at any point in-game.

As far as NDBs, the white board on the right-hand side of the cockpit displays the NDB stations currently programmed into the ADF. See Producer's Note #4 around 1:50.
