Just a heads up as I hadn't seen it in the patch notes but just stumbled upon by accident...looks like we now have desert skins for ground vehicles, US ones at least - I've seen skins for Humvee, Abrams and Bradleys!

Wow, haven't seen it myself yet, but that's great!

Good to see this stuff in implemented in the core game

(these mods all look very nice, until they break DCS due to some update :P. Also it's a pita having to find out you need to go and search for all kind of mods before you can play a user made mission)

System specs:

i7-8700K @stock speed - GTX 1080TI @ stock speed - AsRock Extreme4 Z370 - 32GB DDR4 @3GHz- 500GB SSD - 2TB nvme - 650W PSU

HP Reverb G1 v2 - Saitek Pro pedals - TM Warthog HOTAS - TM F/A-18 Grip - TM Cougar HOTAS (NN-Dan mod) & (throttle standalone mod) - VIRPIL VPC Rotor TCS Plus with ALPHA-L grip - Pointctrl & aux banks <-- must have for VR users!! - Andre's SimShaker Jetpad - Fully adjustable DIY playseat - VA+VAICOM - Realsimulator FSSB-R3

Maybe it's me, but I don't think that a Skin is a Mod .. also, I can't remember if I have had ever a vehicle skin break DCS, in the worst case the skin simply doesn't load properly.

Not having a skin does not prevent you from loading a user made mission, at the most you will see a default skin instead of the one the mission author meant.

You're probably right. I guess I'm a bit negative minded when it comes to user made addons/changes as I had to cleanup/repair a bit too often. (can't recall any skins to be the cause though)

Oh, my bad, I didn't know that

Just like your standard Airplane Skin; Mission Designer has to select them and everyone that has them sees them.

So unlike "standard" aircraft liveries, these need to be downloaded and installed by everyone joining the server. That's why public servers and many squadrons omit these, as it puts an additional obstacle on users, especially ones not happy modding their DCS...

I would like to either add custom liveries into the miz file, or even better add as much as possible into DCS itself.

It still seems strange to me, that saving a custom skin on my Saved Games folder is considered by some users as modding :(

Yes, I'd love it if DCS implemented that

or even better add as much as possible into DCS itself.

Nooo .. we already have so many users complaining about the size that a DCS install requires, it doesn't seem like a practical alternative.

Best regards,
