Southernbear Posted November 18, 2020 Posted November 18, 2020 Unless the feature is yet to come and isn't in game I can't find it. As this feature is a bit of an "Off the books" thing the NATOPs Manuals don't really say where it is and when I jumped into the F-14A this morning it wasn't in the leg well breaker panels for the pilot where I thought it might be, So as the titles say, assuming its actually functioning in game, where is it in the cockpit?
fat creason Posted November 18, 2020 Posted November 18, 2020 It's somewhere in the back and it's not clickable (hence the keybind). We're not even sure that anyone pulled this CB in any real-life scenario short of some likely embellished stories from Snort. 2 Systems Engineer & FM Modeler Heatblur Simulations
HavaFaza Posted November 18, 2020 Posted November 18, 2020 Is hitting the keybind a toggle? And if so, is there a way to know whether it's pulled aside from keeping track of how many times you've pressed it mentally?
fat creason Posted November 18, 2020 Posted November 18, 2020 There's no way to know. I don't even think it's visible from the RIO seat, he can reach it but not see it. There are no plans to do anything beyond what has already been implemented. 1 Systems Engineer & FM Modeler Heatblur Simulations
Eldur Posted November 19, 2020 Posted November 19, 2020 It should at least have a sound so we know it actually switched somehow... 1
Golo Posted November 19, 2020 Posted November 19, 2020 Shoulnd there be engine RPM and/or ITT indication change asociated with operating MCB switch? Because +- 3000lbs of power change (gain if closed/loss if opened) per engine is not trivial amount, I assume.

sLYFa Posted November 19, 2020 Posted November 19, 2020 yes please, what does it do exactly Disables a system that keeps your engine stable at high alpha/mach when should we use it? Never 1 i5-8600k @4.9Ghz, 2080ti , 32GB@2666Mhz, 512GB SSD
QuiGon Posted November 19, 2020 Posted November 19, 2020 when should we use it? When the aircraft goes through maintainance. 1 Intel i7-12700K @ 8x5GHz+4x3.8GHz + 32 GB DDR5 RAM + Nvidia Geforce RTX 2080 (8 GB VRAM) + M.2 SSD + Windows 10 64Bit DCS Panavia Tornado (IDS) really needs to be a thing!
r4y30n Posted November 21, 2020 Posted November 21, 2020 It may help to understand when exactly the MCB opens to determine any benefit to disabling it, the HB manual is currently a little vague on the topic. If you fire the gun or launch a missile the valve will be open a minimum of 5 seconds. Whenever you're above 16 units AoA the valve is open (less if you're above Mach 0.5) and will remain so for another 3 seconds after you ease off. The real kicker may be when attempting aerial refueling, the valve stays open while the probe is extended. And with gear down, the valve opens when going to Zone 5 but also when dropping below Mil. The 2004 NATOPS says with the MCB open you lose 3000 lbs thrust per engine in a Zone 5 takeoff but, because you're dumping a percentage of the total airflow, the actual loss of thrust will vary with speed, altitude and throttle...
Elliot Posted June 25, 2023 Posted June 25, 2023 (edited) is it broken with the recent dcs updates? the aircraft doesn't feel any different and the test switch shows it as working even after it's been pressed Edited June 25, 2023 by Elliot spelling error
sLYFa Posted June 25, 2023 Posted June 25, 2023 The MCB opens only under very specific conditions (e.g. high AoA), you wont normally see a change with the CB pulled, its not a magic switch to give you more thrust. i5-8600k @4.9Ghz, 2080ti , 32GB@2666Mhz, 512GB SSD

sLYFa Posted June 26, 2023 Posted June 26, 2023 (edited) I dont know if/how the test is implemented so I'm not sure if you can use that to check MCB operation. One thing where the MCB is really noticable is during AAR. Once the probe is out, the MCB opens and you will need substantially more throttle to maintain the speed you had before probe extension. You can test whether this is also the case with the CB pulled. Edit: Just checked and the test indeed does NOT verify if the valve is actually open, only that the control circuits are functional. Elliot Posted June 26, 2023 Posted June 26, 2023 (edited) yeah, i think the keybind is open, even with the probe open and the speed maxed out i cant see any change when i try to pull the breaker it's a shame, i want my compressor stall heaven + thrust back not to mention, a jester voiceline saying its pulled would be nice; either that or something in jester's 'within visual range' menu Edited June 26, 2023 by Elliot added things
