Flappie Posted February 8, 2021 Posted February 8, 2021 OK. At least, we're pretty sure this is not tied to some DCS setting, now. Maybe it's something to do with your AMD settings. Can you please attach screenshots of your AMD settings? If you're OK with it, you can make a backup and then reset those. ---
Roosterfeet Posted February 8, 2021 Posted February 8, 2021 I'll give that a shot. I'm also considering rolling back drivers but this has been happening for a while. Any idea what's the oldest radeon driver that should play nice with the current beta? 5800x3D, rtx4070, Quest3 (sometimes)
Flappie Posted February 8, 2021 Posted February 8, 2021 No idea, I've not been messing with AMD GPUs for a looong time. One thing though: if you haven't, try to update W10 to the latest version first. ---
Ithronwise Posted February 9, 2021 Author Posted February 9, 2021 (edited) Hi Flappie, I tested again and I am pretty sure now, my graphics glitch has the same source like the strange graphics glitch (yellow, red) in this forum. My setup contained two M163, four Mi-8 and a Humvee as observer. Graphics glitch Mi-8 02.trk Here is a video of it: (the first 5 pictures were taken from a run yesterday) Then I changed the setup. Instead the Mi-8 I used Bf 109K-4 and there was the same glitch. Here is the video: The only differences were the colours (grey/white instead darkgrey/black, red/yellow instead black/blue). Also the shape was very similar (looks like a cone in some of the pictures). And all these glitches are not longer than 1 frame. That means, on my rig with my settings (rock solid 60 fps) it is only visible for a 1/60 of a second. If you run DCS with a higher frame rate (90 or 120 fps) than it would be visible for only 1/90 or 1/120 of a second. It is possible that you just overlook it. Roosterfeet Posted February 9, 2021 Posted February 9, 2021 To close the loop, I wasn't able to find anything that helped with the artifacts but I do have an observation after many tests. When viewing Flappie's track for the first time after launching DCS, I seldom see any visual artifacts until near the end of the track when looking over the shoulder at the burning helos. On subsequent views during the same DCS session, I see frequently occurring artifacts as soon as the the first MI-8 is hit. 5800x3D, rtx4070, Quest3 (sometimes)
Flappie Posted February 9, 2021 Posted February 9, 2021 (edited) Nice one, @Ithronwise! I still cannot reproduce the black glitch, but there's a twist: some of the black smokes are flickering (0:41 and 1:04). @BIGNEWY Can you reproduce one of the graphic bugs described, whether Ithronwise's (black glitch one the whole screen) or mine (flickering smokes), using this track? Edited February 9, 2021 by Flappie ---
ED Team BIGNEWY Posted February 9, 2021 ED Team Posted February 9, 2021 I am not able to reproduce the black red and yellow using there tracks, however that is reported already using other tracks. The smoke flicker is a different issue and I will check it out in the morning with the team. thank you 2 Forum rules - DCS Crashing? zorro74 Posted February 10, 2021 Posted February 10, 2021 in my opinion it is always linked to the new aircraft explosion and fumes management system since version DCS 2.5.6. In fact or tried to install the latest DCS 2.5.5 from April 2020 and the bugs are not there.
Ithronwise Posted June 7, 2021 Author Posted June 7, 2021 Hi Flappie, hi BIGNEWY, just for your information, the graphics glitch is gone with the update to 2.7.1. I tested the Mi-8 mission several times yesterday, but no bug anymore. Thanks to both of you and a special Thank you to the ED developer team. Flappie Posted June 7, 2021 Posted June 7, 2021 (edited) Thanks for your feedback! You know what? I was thinking about this glitch today and was wondering if it was fixed or not. Edited June 7, 2021 by Flappie ---
