If you have a GPS weapon (JDAM, JSOW, SLAM) selected, and it hasn't finished aligning, you'll see 'TXA DEGD' to indicate their alignment status is incomplete.

align  the  gps  weapoms

HOW ?!

if you take a hot jet from the ramp, take off then start to setup your weapons. And the INS is already set from the hot start what else is there to do? Saying “align the weapons” doesn’t explain what got missed.

Generally, select the weapon on the stores page and wait 7 minutes and 30 seconds for it to align.

Yeah. Done that. Then I deselect the JDAM so I can designate a SPI using the HMD and when I re-box the jdam I get degraded again.

Doesn’t it stay aligned or is the manoeuvring tho wit it out?

nope   once you  have  aligned  you need  to  have  the  weapons  selected   if  you  deselect  you need  to re  align  again

Great  so as there’s no way to visually place a spi through the hmd with any weapon selected, That mans manual mode much less useful.
You can place down an A/G designation with selected JDAMs just fine. What's the issue? If you want to do it via the HMD/HUD, you need to be in A/G mode.

The current JDAM target will still be displayed separately as a diamond, if it's different than your current A/G designation.

You can also select other A/G weapons, while leaving the JDAMs boxed. They only lose power if you explicitly de-select them, but you can select another weapon and de-select it to return to the JDAMs.

That sounds like incorrect modeling. Once the weapon is powered it should remain powered. Selected shouldn't matter. What if a bandit pops up at the IP and you have to choose missiles for a moment?

Again, you only loose power/alignment if you specifically ‘deselect’ using the OSB button next to the weapon name.

You can go ahead and select an AA weapon using the HOTAS, or even select another bomb type, you can then return to the JDAM, just don’t press the OSB next to an already boxed JDAM. ….And this seems to be correct from looking at a leaked JDAM manual online.
