AI issue on the Channel map

Recommended Posts

I recently tried the P-51 mission Atlantic Wall that is set on the channel map. In this mission after starting your engine you are supposed to wait until you get a call of "chocks away" before you start your taxi. It never comes. When I look into the mission details this should be triggered by the AI P-51 escort squadron taking off. They start their engines but never taxi or takeoff. I don't know if this is an AI problem, a problem with the map, with the P-51 module, or with the mission design. I suppose I could record a track, but it's going to be pretty boring and will basically show me starting my engine and then nothing else happens for as long as I want to wait. Please move as appropriate.

Possibly related. I get it consistently in MP but have seen it in SP on occasion as well. Sometimes with AI wingman refusing to taxi/takeoff at all.

Technically the mission in question is MP because it has two client slots, and an F10 option to spawn an AI wingman if flying without a human one. But I'm not running it on a server. The units that fail to takeoff are not my AI wingman, however. I'll try to make a track next time I'm flying.

Can you guys share a track or at least a video showing this issue?

@Flappie: I tried uploading a track but it exceeded the file size limit. But it's really just a track of me sitting in the cockpit after starting the engine, with the Escort squadron off to my right idling instead of taking off for 7-8 minutes. I'm not clear on how this would help anyone. It's apparently easily reproduced behavior per post by Leadbottom.

Sorry, I won't be of any help since I don't own the Channel map. I agree ths bug seems very easy to reproduce (with the right module and map), but ED crew are more prompt to acknowledge bugs when there's a track attached.

About size limit: click on your profile up there, then click My Attachments. If the bar is full, it means you need to delete older attachmentsto attach new ones.

The size limit in question is the 5MB limit on attachments to a single post, not my personal limit. The track file I created is 6MB. I'm not sure why it is so big since not much happens. I suppose I can make a smaller one by cutting off the boring part sooner.

Seems to be fixed in the latest update. However whomever created the mission messages and voiceovers should be told that a right turn is a turn to "starboard" not "port."

What mission are you talking about?

Atlantic Wall mission for the P-51 on the Channel Map. (See the original post.) However I've since learned that there were other versions of "Atlantic Wall" for the Spitfire and P-47 that had the same issue. I haven't tested to see if those were fixed since I'm not really competent in those aircraft.
