while you are talking about 40s, 50s era, I dont know why people are talking about 60s, 70s !
Mine one is F-86 , F-80 and F-84 in same order 😄

It would be sweet if we could get the F-84 and F-84F but I suspect not but the F-80 might be doable since there are some still flying

Early Cold War?

F4D-1 Skyray - a notable, if slightly obscure, early supersonic carrier-borne fighter

F11F Tiger - like the Skyray, it was quickly surpassed by the Crusader and others, but I think it's beautiful aircraft; had a long career with the Blue Angels

F6 / FGA9 Hunter - I think a more marketable selection (but the Skyray's still my pick)

A-1 Skyraider. Veteran of both Korea and Vietnam war. With big A-G ordinance payload and sturdy construction. First used by Navy, later also by USAF from land bases.

F7U Cutlass, aka gutless. First fligh in 1948, operational from 1954.

Aerodynamically ahead of it's time but suffered due to somewhat insufficient engine power. Dangerous and skill requiring during carrier operations (like it's Vought F4U predecessor).

More than 300 has been built.

There was interceptor variant with small radar and 4 beam-riding early Sparrow missiles. Photo recon variant.

Test pilots found it a stable weapons platform, maneuverable, fun to fly and the strengthened airframe to be sturdy. Test pilots particularly praised its high roll rate at 570 degrees/s, three times faster than most production jets at the time.

Air refuel capable.

It was even used by Blue Angeles in 1953 season.
