Auto-stop?

I can find and use the auto-start button (Left Win + Home), but I cannot find any Auto-stop keybinding.

 

Although I understand I can just shut down the engines, I`d really like to use the Auto-stop feature available to most aircraft.

 

Just me not finding it?

I think you can just repeat the key combo and it will shutdown.

Shutting down the F-14 is really no big deal, just do the following:

-Right panels: turn off VDI, HUD, HSD ARA-64, Anti-ice (if you had it on)

- Left panels: turn off radar altimeter, SAS and TACAN

- Shut down right engine

- Wait approx 10 seconds to verify pressure in the flight (i.e. right) hydraulic system is still up, meaning the hydraulic transfer pump is working

- Turn off the hydraulic transfer pump, disarm the ejection seat, pull parking break, turn off UHF radio, oxygen and emergency generator, cage the standby gyro (that doesnt work right now though).

- Shut down left engine and open the canopy

I see what you mean. Still it is a procedure that needs to be remembered or written down. The start and shut down procedures really do not interest med all that much. There is plenty of other stuff to learn. Hence I would prefer the auto-stop feature...

2. Press ctrl+c to open the canopy
3. Leave the rest to the ground crew.

I'll try it. The idea was to be able to start the aircraft easily again with auto-start. With this solution a lot of switches will be in the wrong position. But I understand that what I am looking for is not available, so I'll give it a try...

I think, if you only shut down the engines and leave the switches where they are after the Autostart, it won’t do anything badly to the jet, when you start it again with Autostart. In the most jets, autostart procedure checks the switches where they are and perform on that Info the Startup. The only thing in the tomcat what you need for Startup is groundpower, airsupply and the Enginecrankswitch. I don’t think it is modelt, but if jester want to perform the alignment, the airsource Switch had to be on the both engines position. 
 

so if there is really no auto-stop, the easiest way for you is, perform an autostart, after your ride taxi to parking spot and only shut down the engines via Throttle to off. Leave the switches where they are. When you are ready for the next ride, turn on

1. groundpower and airsupply via groundcrew,

2. Switch the enginecrank to each side with throttle to idle 

and that’s it. Jester will do the alignment by his own and when you don’t Tell him to make a specific alignment, he will always perform a full one. 
 

After that, you can tell the groundcrew to turn everything off, or you make the Spartan way and Taxi away. Another way to turn the things from groundcrew off . 
 

i think, this is the easiest and comfortabliest way for you. Hope I could help you.

not really an alternative, rather its exactly how we wanted our simulator to behave, in a hi-fidelity emulation of reality.  the one-button start feature is like for absolute beginners who play in unrealistic arcade-mode, like my little sister, for example.

Or, perhaps, for people who have to balance an actual real life with simming, or maybe for those who simply don't enjoy the button pressing monotony.

 

It's possible someone who has no responsibilities, no friends, no family, and leads a lonely existence of sitting in a dark room all day with VR goggles strapped to their face might enjoy repetitively pressing the same sequence of simulated buttons over and over. But it's not for everyone.

 

 

edit: For the confused person, this post shows the idiocy and inappropriateness of commenting on how others choose to enjoy DCS - something the poster above hasn't yet grasped.

Agreed!

 

There is so much to learn and do in each DCS aircraft, and so little free time. To be somewhat current on the various types I try to use my limited amount of time available learning the systems and actually fly the aircraft. This instead of scratching my head every time I want to fly wondering how I start this thing. It just does not interest me.

I've been playing since the Jane's F/A-18 and LOMAC days and I use auto starts, hot starts, and air starts when I have limited time to play and don't feel like going through a 10 min INS alignment in some aircraft.

 

But I guess  that because I prefer time-saving features over ultra-realism, I'm lumped into the same "absolute beginner" category as your little sister. 

 

Try to open up your mindset and consider that people with schedules and jobs might not have the time you do, or that they just may prefer getting in the air to do the flying or fighting quicker instead of spending time flipping switches and knobs.
