It's a bit more complex than a simple reversion, and has been reported to ED multiple times already.

I'll see if a note can be added in one of the next kneeboard updates. Thanks!

Sorry for the nonsense.

After the file is unzipped,  where should I put the folder?   Should it be under the Save the Game Kneeboard folder or the DCS main program folder?   Thanks in advance.

Exactly. Simply extract them to

%USERPROFILE%\Saved Games\DCS\Kneeboard

Suggest installing the kneeboard images of the map onto the DCS main program folder through ovgme.

So you can place a specific map's kneeboards only within that particular map.

%USERPROFILE%\Saved Games\DCS\Kneeboard

This path is for aircrafts not for terrains/maps.

Just create a kneeboard folder for each Terrain in the DCS Main Game Folder at /Mods/terrains/Afghanistan etc and put each individual map and frequencies in each one as below. They will always be available when you fly that map.

Rinse and repeat for each terrain. Name then as below so they won't inter fear with other DCS kneeboard pages. You can also use a Mod Manager for each terrain as well if you like.

That's not true. The kneeboards you copy to

%USERPROFILE%\Saved Games\DCS\Kneeboard

are available with every aircraft and on every map - even if it's confusing, if you have a lot of kneeboards.

That's an option, but you may have to reinstall the kneeboards after every DCS update. And it maybe impacts the game integrity check, if you copy the kneeboards directly into the DCS installation files.

You don't (have to install the kneeboards after every DCS update) and it won't (impact the game integrity check).

The best way to install kneeboards is:

Aircraft Kneeboards to: %USERPROFILE%\Saved Games\DCS\Kneeboard\AIRCRAFT

Maps Kneeboards to: X:\INSTALLFOLDER\DCS World\Mods\terrains\MAP\Kneeboard

This way you will have the aircraft kneeboard regardless of the map and the map kneeboard regardless of the aircraft.

Like @Shrimp writes, this will not happen with updates, like other mods/files that don't exist in the first place. BUT they will be removed with a repair. So it's best practice to make a mod of such files in any case, and push them with a mod manager.

Cheers!

There are lots of kneeboard images on my DCS. I only want the kneeboard of Syria map show when I'm playing on the Syria map and flying any module. I don't want to see kneeboards for Nevada, Caucasus, Afghanistan, etc. Others are same.

So %USERPROFILE%\Saved Games\DCS\Kneeboard is not suitable for me.

The best way is copy the kneeboard images of map to DCS install path.

Of course I know any changes to the installation directory will be reset after the DCS update, so we need OVMGE.

Finally, copy kneeboard images to DCS install path cannot break IC.

Good luck.

the problem with is that all the maps are visible all the time if you go into  your kneeboard if placed in %USERPROFILE%\Saved Games\DCS\Kneeboard   we really "need" a map folder per theatre under it as we do for aircraft...

I don't understand really what the issue here is.  I mean, I install them all into 'Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\Mods\terrains\xxx\Kneeboard' with one click in Open Mod Manager.  Updates don't tend to affect them at all, and if they do, then it's just one click again to install in OMM.

Sorry if I am missing something obvious.

i agree it's not a huge issue, but, it's a QOL thing for me. It would be nice to manage them the same way other kneeboards are managed.

By manage, do you mean having them in user folders rather than DCS install folders? I’ve never used user kneeboard folders and have never had an issue.

What is the advantage?

I second this. It's easy to copy to the core. It's harder to remember to remember after a repair. Which I do quite frequently. What I wish for the most, is an official app like Kneeboard builder so I can easily remove ALL kneeboards, and only apply those I want per mission. Yes, you can actually swap kneeboards during a mission. You just have to browse back and forth, and DCS will update. Awesome ain't it?
