If every page has multiple contributors and the sole reason for the thread is to repost already publicly available information, then it's a "community project". Not to mention it's on ED's website. That's doesn't diminish the value of the thread, in this case it adds to it greatly.

 

It's different than a content creator's independent podcast on his own YouTube channel.

Count the posters in the thread, then. The entire community had been using it to post news updates. I contributed a handful of entries myself. He started it, but if he simply stopped posting, others would have picked up the slack.

Yep. And even I made a few contributions. 

 

Many threads here have several thousand views. A few have 100K+. That thread has over 4 million views. It's obviously very popular and it's in everyone's interests to have it remain active no matter who handles the content.

I think there has to be a better way found (software-wise) to make both sides happy. If any thread starter wants / needs that thread (or any posts of his) hidden, he, and admins/mods, should always have option to do so. That being said it should also be possible to filter other members' posts somehow so that they don't get wiped out with a single command as well.

Granted, that would require extra programming time on ED staff, which simply might not be available, so for the time being, it's just more convenient (and fair to fellow users) to stop posting if someone decides to take a break for whatever reason. DCS players and forum users come and go all the time, it doesn't mean their posts need to disappear too.

Well, some people have made me come back to the forum. It seems one can't rest, because they've made me angry with their selfishness and lack of tact.

Can you tell me what bothers you? It's curious that those who complain the most seem to have bad intentions... Remember, I've been doing this for 15 years, without charging a single dollar or euro for it, selflessly for the community... I've never been on the payroll of ED or any third party. Even when I made weekly videos, I didn't get that many views, nor did I make a living from them, as I've seen in recent years on some channels... Furthermore, those who are talking about "contributions," look at the statistics, you'll be surprised...

So please, have a little understanding, because it seems some of you just want me to disappear. This is my final word here.
