hawk4me Posted May 24, 2021 Posted May 24, 2021 Looking at the MFD's for the Viper is the TGP supposed to look really blocky as it currently does. The screen is heavily pixelated and you can see the square pixels that make up the screen. Now compare that to the screen looking through a MAV sensor and it's a different animal. Is this just EA stuff or is this going to be the way it always looks? I know the resolution of the mav screen's is hardly correct as it shouldn't be as clear as it is but the TGP on low zoom levels shouldn't look like staring through a screen door. 1
hawk4me Posted May 24, 2021 Author Posted May 24, 2021 Even in non VR it feels like looking through a screen door. Mav quality is great on both screens but the TGP for some reason is really blocky looking and far as I know unless your really zoomed in it shouldn't look like that.
John McClane Posted May 24, 2021 Posted May 24, 2021 Looks terrible VR or non VR. I dont know how anyone can make out what targets are. I dont complain because I never looked through a real TGP so not sure what its supposed to look like. But I do wish it were more clear.
hawk4me Posted May 25, 2021 Author Posted May 25, 2021 At high levels of zoom it will look pretty grainy in the real thing. Adjusting brightness/contrast should help a bit but in our case it doesn't do anything but adjust the pixelated look as well. I think whatever filter is being used is likely the culprit cause it shouldn't be as bad as it is.
Ignition Posted June 28, 2021 Posted June 28, 2021 The AGM65D its more useful than the TGP, I can't find anything with the TGP. Everything has the same color. 2

As for now I'd be happy if they copy-pasted the rendering from the Su-25T pod or the Viggen's maverick display into the F-16's TGP. But that's planned to be reworked afaik, right now the pod doesn't work at night. I mean it switches on but the picture does not display IR even if you select WHOT or BHOT.

USA_Recon Posted July 1, 2021 Posted July 1, 2021 My wishlist item would be to improved the TGP visibility, it's the worse TPG in the game right now (maybe outside of the F14), it's very grainy, constantly trying to setup the right brightness, contrast etc... and . F-18 is much better, JF-17 even better. Also, still issues around different lighting and red datalink contacts in VR. In the right lighting it looks fine, but it's changing so much - it's way overdone, so making this a better experience would be my 'wish'

Smoked Posted July 1, 2021 Posted July 1, 2021 I am not sure why the MFD brightness constantly changes in this jet but here we are. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] V55th FS | 55th DiscordViper pit Discord

Hi, we know the exact resolution of the displays and that is exactly the number of pixels in the sim, thanks. Forum Rules • My YouTube • My Discord - NineLine#0440• **How to Report a Bug**
SkHiTech Posted July 7, 2021 Posted July 7, 2021 I remember one of the early version of viper (probably before dcs 2.7) when the TGP was A LOT better. I mean the resolution (feeling) was higher and above all, the contrast between white / black images was stronger. now the bigger problem to me (Oculus Rift S + 2.0Pixel density) is that the images and TGP interface are so low contrast that it's all the same gray patch. It's really hard to see. And if you play with the Bright control or Gain control you get low improvement because everything turn black or the same shade of grey I tried to use TGP on screen (fullhd) and it's better but TGP screen VS Maverick screen (BHOT on both) still is very different in terms of Brightness and Contrast. I really hope ED will boost the TGP brightness and contrast soon, because now it's a pain in the arse to use effectively while in VR, and man, The Viper in VR mode is ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL Thanks!!!
