Vekkinho Posted November 2, 2008 Posted November 2, 2008 I remember the Su-27 model few years ago, can't really remember who was making it but the guy incorporated different vapor trails! I believe U guys remember it and can make something similar! Thanks again! [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
SuperKungFu Posted November 2, 2008 Posted November 2, 2008 Yea the one Vekkinho is talking about is by strikemax What Ada did to the Mirage 2000 is a very interesting idea. Would really like to see that apply to the Su-27. However, to make it look more realistic, you could try to make it lighter. Here's a couple shots of the air condensation. Would be cool to see this during turning or cobra moves. 1 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Vekkinho Posted November 2, 2008 Posted November 2, 2008 Beautiful examples of condensation SKF! Thanks on your support! [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
SuperKungFu Posted November 2, 2008 Posted November 2, 2008 (edited) I do have a couple request though for the 3GO group 1.) could we have a side picture of your new Su-27? I would like to see if the nose/spine shape is correct. Something like this Some ideas we at sim-mod was planning to do with our Su-27 for project firefly was this: Engine's limited air duct (FOD guard position) During ejecting you could see the details in the cockpit like the rails Pylons could be invisible by using tga files so it would be great for aerobatic usage. So you get a "clean" look The The OLS-27 moves as the pilot's head moves Black smog would be emitted from the engines when it hits the first stage of afterburner (only a brief second) ^ note: i know this last picture isnt black smog but it looks cool :P Among other ideas such as: Grill (below the engines) are animated during turning front slats are in the correct position durning takeoff front slats on the wings move new afterburner very smooth nozzle movement during power ups So yea, feel free to incorporate any of these ideas. Vekkinho Posted November 2, 2008 Posted November 2, 2008 Black smog would be emitted from the engines when it hits the first stage of afterburner (only a brief second) Didn't know this was possible, I thought of adding smoke to an argument of nozzle movement animation! [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
SkieRider Posted November 2, 2008 Author Posted November 2, 2008 Side picture here.... You could see the Weathering skin in progress :music_whistling: But so many ideas.....I'm sorry that I have learned 3DSMAX only half a year, and many of them are difficult for me.....
Kuky Posted November 2, 2008 Posted November 2, 2008 Side picture here.... You could see the Weathering skin in progress :music_whistling: But so many ideas.....I'm sorry that I have learned 3DSMAX only half a year, and many of them are difficult for me..... That actually looks pretty nice to be honest... SkieRider, just keep one thing in mind... don't release the first version as done... when you think you're done give it a day or two and relook on the model again... give it another ovahaul and see where else you could improve (there will always be something more you could add) then when you're happy with the model again, give it second time out.. and repeat process again for another phase of improvement. In another words, let your 3rd 'complete' model be final be the final one. I have to say since you just started learning 3dsmax this is a pretty goos model, but go the extra mile and surprise yourself (AND US :D) by doing better then you expected... you'll be glad you did :smilewink: looking forward to more news on this one :book: PC specs: Windows 11 Home | Asus TUF Gaming B850-Plus WiFi | AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D + LC 360 AIO | MSI RTX 5090 LC 360 AIO | 55" Samsung Odyssey Gen 2 | 64GB PC5-48000 DDR5 | 1TB M2 SSD for OS | 2TB M2 SSD for DCS | NZXT C1000 Gold ATX 3.1 1000W | TM Cougar Throttle, Floor Mounted MongoosT-50 Grip on TM Cougar board, MFG Crosswind, Track IR
SuperKungFu Posted November 2, 2008 Posted November 2, 2008 (edited) Thanks SkieRider for the side shot. I'm pretty satisfied with the shape, it closely matches to the most accurate layout I have. good job. I know it was pretty difficult to get it to the correct shape. Here's for others to see: Note: I do know that it looks slightly off, but that's my fault since I did a rush job on pasting the layout on top of the picture. If others want to see for yourself, I attached below the most accurate layout of the Su-27 I could find on the net. Although the zipped file is only 894 KB, when you unzip it its about 120 mb since its at res 6727x4691 btw: will there be a new pilot?Layout.zip Edited November 2, 2008 by SuperKungFu [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
SuperKungFu Posted November 2, 2008 Posted November 2, 2008 But so many ideas.....I'm sorry that I have learned 3DSMAX only half a year, and many of them are difficult for me..... Yea and I fully understand some of these ideas are a bit complex. We don't even know how to do some, it was merely an idea that we hoped to explore. But something you can try it is spinning engines. If you look at our sim-mod A-10, the engines spin since its attached to the argument of the wheel. So as the wheel turns, so does the engines. Although it doesn't look that realistic, its a start. And the second when you take off, the engines appear blur so it still looks like its spinning. But this is not a priority since the engines blades are pretty deep within the intakes. And upon takeoff, the FOD guard kinda blocks the view. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Deadman Posted November 2, 2008 Posted November 2, 2008 Really great work your doing a great job I hope your have a god time and enjoying it  https://forum.dcs.world/topic/133818-deadmans-cockpit-base-plans/#comment-133824 CNCs and Laser engravers are great but they can't do squat with out a precise set of plans.
SuperKungFu Posted November 2, 2008 Posted November 2, 2008 AS for skins, it would be cool to see details such as these: [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

Alfa Posted November 2, 2008 Posted November 2, 2008 Engine's limited air duct (FOD guard position) There is actually an argument specifically for this, but IIRC it either isn't "called" for the Su-27 in Lock-on(was in Flanker) or just isn't animated on the LO model. If its the former, it could just be linked to the argument for gear retraction instead. Pylons could be invisible by using tga files so it would be great for aerobatic usage. So you get a "clean" look There is a much better and accurate way of doing this ;) . Weapons have dedicated launcher racks - for the R-27R/RE missile there are even two different launcher racks(APU-470 rail launcher and AKU-470 ejector rack) for the same weapon depending on where it is mounted on the Su-27/33. In FC you can replicate this by: 1). making the aircraft model without "pylons". 2). making the different launcher rack types as separate lom files. 3). combining existing weapons with the new launchers(creating new weapon entries) via the lua scripts(four files). 4). declaring those in the weapon's section of the meinit and finally replace the weapon lines(CLSIDs) under the Su-27 entry. When loading a weapon in the Payload editor, the rack is loaded along with its weapon - when the weapon is launched or jettisoned in the game, the rack stays on the aircraft. If no weapon is loaded, the aircraft stays "clean". This is how removable launcher racks were made for the Su-25T in FC. Black smog would be emitted from the engines when it hits the first stage of afterburner (only a brief second) That sounds great! :) . JJ

Well there is actually quite a lot involved, so its a little complicated to explain. But I made a new APU-470/R-27ER combination once just to test(worked fine) and I think I still have all the modified files :) . Anyway, if you make the racks I can help you make the rack/weapon combinations :) . 2 JJ
RICARDO Posted November 2, 2008 Posted November 2, 2008 well, that flanker is going to be something..... i wish it will be ready at the same time as my flanker's new HD cockpit. when are you going to release that beauty?
