You never activated the GBU-10 profile.

Instead, you selected weapon station 6 from the DSMS, which loads what's called a "manual" profile, denoted by the "M/" prefix.

Afterwards, you updated the profile for the GBU-10 and set it to autolase with 8 seconds, but that profile was never activated, you remained in the manual profile; see the attached screenshot where it says "M/GBU-10" in the HUD.

The most straightforward way of selecting weapon profiles is making sure the HUD is SOI and then using DMS Right Short and DMS Left Short to cycle through the profiles. Alternatively, you can set profiles active from the DSMS profile page.

Long story short: don't select weapon stations from the DSMS (unless you know exactly what you are doing). Instead, select DSMS profiles. 👍

Or, which I learned recently, and use it since - even withou HUD being SOI use SEL rocker on UFC. It is extremaly useful if you have hardware USB UFC.

To be honest, I wasn't aware that the TGP needs to be in either AREA or POINT track mode for autolase to work (not sure about INR); I ran your second track half a dozen times scratching my head what was wrong about it. However, there is some feedback there: When you have a profile selected with the AUTOLASE property set to ON, and when the TGP is unable to provide automatic lasing, the letter "A" will be flashing next to the laser code in the lower line of the TGP page; in your example, it would read "AL1688" with the "A" flashing. That indicates the TGP won't be able to automatically lase the target for you, and you'll get the TGP AUTOLASE FAIL caution as soon as the weapon is released.

That said, after slaving the TGP to the steer point, it can be put into AREA or POINT track with TMS Forward Short, or simply by slewing it around a little, which will automatically initiate AREA track.

-----

Then again, I do wish to slap you on the back of your head. What did I say? Don't select weapon stations from the DSMS. Instead, select DSMS profiles.

It looked like pure random chance that you managed to set up automatic lasing for the active weapon profile.

Seriously. Do NOT select a weapon station from the DSMS. Do select a weapon profile, which you can do from the DSMS profile page, or with the SEL rocker on the UFC (great advice @Foka!) or with the DMS button on the stick with HUD as SOI.

-----

I took control from your second track and tried to highlight the important parts, like the flashing "A" when the TGP is slaved and not tracking, and how to select weapon profiles.

Hey Guys,

I think I got this one nailed, but I do not know if I am doing something wrong, it is a bug or it is working as intended.

I have configured the bombs correctly using the DSMS profile page.  I am positive that I am using the correct profile when dropping.  Also meaning that I am not using the DSMS, but I am using the HUD to select weapons.

I have loaded a total of 9 GBO-12's where 6 are loaded onto TER's.  For this load out, when I cycle through weapons using the HUD the TER's and the single loaded weapons will select in two groups.

So attempting my first drop I get this error at the very instant that the bomb is released.

LaseFail-02.gif

Because I get a sort of "AH HA" moment I repeat the process.

Now I switch to the next GBU-12 group using the HUD.  And...

I am sure that it has to do with having the same profile for two weapon groups.

Does anyone know what is going on here?

Yurgon,

Good Morning and thanks for your reply!

I don't have a picture, so I do not know the TGP mode was in the above pictures.  I had already shot off 6 Mavericks using the TGP.  I was not using point track so it was either in INR-A or AREA mode.

I ran the exact same circumstance on my test range.  This time the laser worked with out a hitch

Now even more confusing...

There are many pictures. 😉

The earlier screenshots clearly show the long crosshairs in the TGP, indicating that the TGP is slaved. I don't know why, but in slaved mode, the TGP can't provide automatic lasing.

In the new screenshots, you can see the shorter crosshairs, indicating (in this case) Inertial track (INR), and AREA as well as POINT would also work.

Just slewing the TGP, even the tiniest amount, will take it from slaved to one of the above mentioned tracking methods. Alternatively, you can cycle the tracking method with TMS Forward Short (while TGP is SOI).

Long story short, for automatic lasing, make sure the TGP is in AREA, POINT or INR tracking.
